Will there be a special collectors edition of the game?

When I click through the pre-order and add to cart, I get this description:   "Elemental [Pre-Order] (Download + Std. Ed. Box)"

I take that to mean standard edition box, does that mean there will be some kind of special edition available?  Just wondering because that is what has kept me from pre-ordering the game as I like to own collectors editions of games when available, especially this game being a long time fan of MoM!  Anybody know for sure?  Thanks.

Usually the case has been all impulse pre-orders are special edition. that Std. Ed. is new to me.

This game is crying out to have a collectors edition with a cloth map!  Those were always the best loot to include in a special edition.  I'm not sure what world the map would be, unless there is a special default map available.  That worked okay for SMAC.  It could even be the one they are currently playing as the Pen and Paper version in the forums.

I remember getting a cloth map with UO. Was a great extra. I think I still have it in a closet.

I thought the special edition was going to get a copy of Frogboy's Elemental novel...or maybe that was just a wish I don't remember.

Not uber fan of collector edition because the "collector" content is rarely worth it.

Bold suggestions:

- Game soundtrack

- Artbook

- In game contents similar to the ones for GalCiv 2

- Exclusive My Color theme like for Sins of a Solar Empire

- Getting the game on an USB key drive instead of a DVD

Why would we need a cloth map in a game with a cloth map?  Not to mention, random terrain generation isn't real compatible with a physical map...

Now a tech tree layout, that would be a nice kick start.

Yup.

So, will we be able to upgrade from our standard editions to collector's editions for just the price difference, or do we have to buy them seperately? I'd probably buy it if I only had to pay the difference (assuming it's not another 50$ or something ridiculous).

Tech tree can evolve for balancing issue even after release of the game :(

I am not interested in trinkets & other dust magnet collector goodies.

Usally "Special Collectors Edition" were not worth the $20 extra bucks that are normally charged these days. There was a time in the history of computer gaming a long long time ago when they were only a few bucks extra but provided the cloth map an other good stuff. But that time was long ago back in the days when games put out good sized decent manuals instead of this 1 or 2 page pamplet crappp that barly tells you the name of the game.

Yeah, I want to know also because I want to pre-order to try and get into a beta but I want to make sure I can get the collectors edition without having to buy 2 copies.  Fallout 3 had a very nice collectors edition but my Dragon Age: Origins wasn't worth the extra cash, hope Elemental has a nice one!

Collector's edition, oh yeah!

Here is a list of things that should get implemented (I mean, it would be nice to have them):

  1. Audio CD
  2. Special in-game features (different background of the main screen, etc.)
  3. A steel pendant of a water/fire/wind/earth shape. (/ = OR)

Special in-game features (different background of the main screen, etc.)

I completely disagree. For one thing, in-game stuff remains "collectors only" for a couple days, tops. If there is a code for it, someone spreads it around the internet, or someone creates a very simple mod that unlocks it, etc, etc. There are tons of ways to make it available to everyone, at which point it ceases to be "special."

If the special feature is meaningful, then it is unfair to people who just buy the regular edition. If it isn't meaningful, then it wasn't worth the extra money to get it.

I think the collectors edition should include the soundtrack CD, Frogboy's book (please?:pout: ) mycolors theme, and maybe little pewter figureine. Kind of like the Rook figure that came with the Demigod Collecters Edition. Maybe a dragon or something.

Not sure why people would want a sound track to a computer game. I see this as worthless. Now Cloth map would be ok and a novell would be great. But what I would really value and make the Special Edition woth the extra money would be a cd with the game editor plus a good detailed manual on how to use the editor effectively without have to search the net to find this information
