I was thinking about what it meant to be a pirate. And the pirates in this game don't really act so much like pirates as they do bounty hunters. So I was thinking, what if the pirates actually stole ships from your fleet? This would make the game much more interesting since pirate raids later into the game would include more than just tek ships.
Yeah, or they could be given the abillity of spying/stealing tech from the 3 races. In that way they can acquire a more diverse fleet with powerful weapons, which would make them a more formidable foe in late games.
If it's been added, then I'm assuming they haven't finished that aspect because I haven't seen it yet. I definitely like how they've changed the pirates in this beta, at least I like them when they aren't attacking me!
give them lots and lots of money, that supposively allows them to unlock those abilities

Still, pirates irl don't depend on money to steal a ship. They just wave their guns around and take it. So maybe there is a better approach to achieving the same affect.

well stealing a ship on the waters vs stealing a ship in space are two completely different things
on water you just need a boat and guns, like you said
in space you need a specialized airlock, specialized weapons that stop the ships temporaryly to allow take over, etc. and that requires money
These pirates look more like the reavers from Firefly... I don't think the game has to be scientifically precise, especially since you consider all of the planets that do not orbit the star they surround. My point being is that the pirates should be able to steal ships with bounties around 1k credits.

I think they will consider it. However, this seems like a big pain in the butt to code. It all depends on how much they have to rewrite to get it to work.
All they would have to do is add the advents submission ability to one of the pirate ships (call it commendeer if you must). The result would be the same.. Pirates capture a ship.
that is pretty much what they have done, I just cant figure which ship they put the ability on
For a few weeks we had given the pirates the ability to commandeer ships, but as of now this is being taken out.

Well for me the idea of pirates taking over a military ship is a bit far fetched.Also in a game would be very annoying as your battling they are stealing ships.I mean there have been hate threads that the rapture cap ship can do it at level 6.

Thats what pirates DO, they steal!
especialy if you have a new ship type that has the ability and make only one or two per pirate fleet (more at higher pirate level) and give it a long cooldown. Also it cant steal cap ships. Your so worried about them, kill them before they can take your ships. otherwise they would only be dangourouse if left unchecked for a long battle with the pirates
