Okay i was listening to the new relient k and decided to write an article on the uprising of emo. Everyone's emo now. I mean even the stupid pop punk bands like g.c. and simple plan are even emo now. First Blink turned emo, which i knew would happen after adam's song on one of there older cds. Then Sum 41 followed suit, but they have there own version of emo which is almost screamo but not quite. It's like angry punk emo. Then all the pop punk kids were all like yeah emo is the way to be. Stupid conformists. Anyway, now Relient K is even emo. I mean emo's cool. I love it, i like dashboard, and jimmy eat world, taking back sunday etc. but they were emo in the first place. this crap that everyone's just forgetting about punk is stupid. Most of the bands weren't really punk to begin with. Like Anti Flag and NOFX , they would be covered in terraki chicken and eaten alive by platipi (that the plural form of platapus) before they turned emo. Oh and i still remain that there is happy emo. The Middle by Jimmy Eat World is a happy emo song. So there alex. and oh ugly day by five iron is a sad ska song. SO THERE> oh and if you don't know what emo is *cough*stacey*cough, don't expect me to explain it to you, it was so much cooler when it was underground.

Depends on what your interpretation of "conformist" is. Most people would say someone who analyzes punk, ska, and emo THAT much could never be conformist. Perhaps an underground conformist or off-beat conformist, but when I think mainstream conformist, I think teeny bopper bullshit.

Anyway, I think you've put quite a bit too much thought into the situation at hand. (Green Day is better anyway :-) )

I really don't know much about punk, emo, etc....I guess I'm not an underground guy. Anyway, I'm still not emo or punk....or anything relatively close to that....so, I suppose it's still kind of underground....at least to me Well, that's about it....

Well, let me put it this way. Emo isn't usually what you'd call uplifting. I honestly can't say that I typically feel as happy after listening to it as I did before listening to it. Of course, like Sarah said, there are happy emos.

i know i said i wouldn't say it but oh well. it's a style of clothing, and music, short for emotional. Very sad lyrics to music, sometimes angry, and nearly always complaining about something. Usually makes you want to curl up in whole and die, the clothing includes thick rimmed glasses, tight straight legged pants, and sweaters/t shirt that have nostagic child's stuff on them. Converse.

Actually, I'm not exactly the person to talk to about this kind of stuff but I'm sure that in a few months I'll be a bit more reliable source for info on the emo. I'm a jazz fanatic at heart but I've been listening to punk for a while and a tiny bit of emo. Ska is the nearest to what I have been looking for in today's music though.
