Looking to buy a decent gaming PC, and I need your help!

Above is the new rig I'm going to get for my PC. I already have a case, cd drive, and the other stuff taken care of.

What do you guys think? See any problems? Know of better things that are cheap?

Any critique/advice would be awesome! Thanks

EDIT: Changed the HD to a HITACHI 0A38016 1TB and changed the PSU: OCZ StealthXStream OCZ700SXS 700W

EDIT: Updated PIC

Total Cost: $491.40 $492.44

P.S It's not meant to be top of the line. It's meant to be under 500 bucks =]

Pas I wasn't berating Jafo. Just saying he could have near the same experience with a AMD Phenom 2 setup. And he could have saved money.

Jafo - I am happy that you are pleased with your new setup. I apoligize for my statements.

Sooner or later I will upgrade as well.

Anyone running a i7 should not consider less than 1000W, especially if you add on a GTX-285 or GTX-295.

Tell that to my friend running a core i7 920 with a gtx295 comfortably with a 600W PSU.

Overclock the i7 and that PSU will be toast....;)

Why does everything on forums turn into a debate/argument? ;P  Sheesh. I bought the parts already, everything that is in my OP.

Thanks for the input and info!

I have an I7 920 with a GTX285 powered by a 850W psu. I don't have a need to overclock (besides overclocking puts additional strain on the components) and realize that I have more power than I need at the moment. it's nice to know I have sufficient power to add on when I need to.

Speaking of cases I've always wanted to build a PC with a complete clear case.

and now, we have another kid entering the scene who wants to berate what others have chosen as components for their rigs. dude, if you want to power an i7, gtx285, 4 hhd, and 2 burner rig with a 500 watt psu, go ahead and do it. i'd love to hear your story when the rig dies an untimely death, too.
Well, we'll see... Last one was dimensionned the same way and still runs perfectly 5 year after. So far, so good. By the way, my current 500W wasn't especially on the cheap range. Wanna bet ?

I actually have that case with bigger fans, it's not as impressive as my CM cases. I don't think ill ever buy another brand at this point CM has impressed me so much.

Yep Fuzzy that's what I want.

Let's talk about your power supply. 700W is insane. You're running a computer, not the last line of defense between earth and the alien hoards. You should be buying a 400W-500W unit. But I don't expect you to take my word for it. Check out this review of the Radeon 4850. The page I linked to lists power consumption. At load, the test system with a Radeon 4850 used 236 watts. Note that this is not the video card - it is the entire test system. You would be fine with a 350W PSU, to be honest, but its always nice to have some overhead for upgrading.

Facelessclock is right on target. If anybody else needs some help calculating how much power you really need, try using a PSU calc, like the one located at http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp.

That looks pretty nice, just got a new rig myself

I finally got a new PC as well. I'll keep what I got to myself.

on cases the only case I EVER want now is a server one I saw. Each Side was a Massive fan (easily 12" radius) I have a pic somewhere of five of these cases stuck together and it looked so darn cool (the rest of the case was black metal/plastic with blue LED's, it was a gaming server case XD)

and those PSU's 1000W !!! WHAT?! Well I suppose its your choice, personally I got one of the antec 650W PSU's. They are reliable and rated at continuous, not peak power (so i guess it's maybe overkill - but better safe than sorry).

I like how on the first page there were two guys who posted that they would go Nvidia with absolutely no backup whatsoever. :)

Was that the Eee PC I saw being delivered the other day? What did it say on the side, 'size isn't everything'? :P

Nope. It's a full size tower with a LCD screen. Guess again.
