Elemental beta overview/get-together at PAX?

Given it sounds like Elemental is going beta at the same time as the Penny Arcade Expo and I'm sure several of us will be at PAX, maybe Stardock could host a special 30-60 minute "Welcome to the beta" at PAX? It'd be interesting to get a hands on presentation and feel for what Stardock is looking to accomplish with the first beta and what they hope to get from active beta participants. Any Alpha folks could share a little wisdom about what they've found already, tricks to get the most out of it, or whatever comes t mind.

Plus, it'd be cool to meet Frogboy, Boogie, etc. I'll even buy the first round of beer for the Stardock folks if we meet at a pub, because clearly Stardock already has a established tradition of meeting at pubs :)

I'm going to be there.  I wouldn't normally go, but I've got my reason to do it this year.   I've already filled out the time-off paperwork and purchased by tickets.  (haven't purchased my hotel yet though, so if somebody is looking for a hotel roommate, let me know.  I plan to get that done by the end of the month when I have funds again, but before I'm happy to talk economy ideas)

I'm not sure what kind of tricks there are to share, since I suspect the beta may be a tad different from the beta (assuming I'm in the alpha).

Funny, I would expect the beta to be extraordinarily similar to the beta. ;P

Sounds like fun.  I'm certainly going to be at PAX though I'll most likely be busy working in the tabletop section...

Bar unforseen difficulties I will be at PAX too. :w00t:

No chance for me, sounds like it will be great, keep us updated! By the usual methods: twitter, Facebook, posts here, smoke signals..

I'd love to see the official list of forum folks that will be at the show. If meetings and press events don't keep us too busy it'd be fun to hang with y'all one evening.

It would certainly be fun to hang out.   (though, if Denryu is going to be there I'll have to avoid him.  Apparently he now wishes to kick me)

I suspect that provided this thread remains near the top a list will form itself.   Though, I'm not sure under who's authority will be it "official"

I mean so far we have:

Tamren

Sparhawk2k

ckessel

Landisaurus (myself)

We'll just keep adding to the list as people say they are going to be there.

And you complain? I'm on a different continent. All you need to do is a roadtrip.

:p

Heh, when you get into the 4 digit numbers in terms of distance it almost becomes easier to fly than to take a road trip.  ...  almost

You should totally take a road trip!  (scoutdog, not luckmann...  Luckmann, you should just swim)   You should go to Illinios, and hop on route 66 (which isn't an actual road anymore, so you'll have to follow the signs) and see the country on your way west.

It wil be TOTALLY out of the way, since it goes to the south west, and you want the north west... but you could pick me up (route 66 goes right through both my hometown in IL and my current residence in AZ) and I could just cancel my plane tickets for another day.   Then together we could drive up to PAX!

(I'm only half serious.  Its like a 2 day trip minimum from here to Seattle.  And I can't really afford to miss that much work at the moment)

(I'm only half serious.

Half???? In any event, I don't think that my parents would enjoy me going on a long road trip with some guy I met on the Web.... they'd proabalby assume you were Charles Manson or something....

HAHAHA! Well, he kinda looks like em.

Just kidding, Landi

have you seen me somewhere CapnWinky  (there is a picture of my back somewhere with my old hair-cut... or more accurate hair-collection since it hadn't been cut in a while in that pic. However, unlike any pic of Charles manson I've ever seen, it was down past my shoulders, and I didn't have a beard)

Anyway, I'm not charles manson.   I wouldn't use music to predict my killings  (Right now if I wanted to rip off charles manson without using music, I'd say I'm most likely to use Elemental: War of Magic dialogue.  But that isn't out yet, so you'd be safe)    Anyway, I don't think anybody has ever been hurt leaving home reguardless of parent protests to spend time with a person they barely met on some internet forum or chat.

Fact:   The internet never lies.  You need to beware women and children (who are usually untrustworthy men and cops respectively)  Fun-loving Guys on the internet are 100% safe provided you arn't a girl or boy under the age of 18....  oh, wait.   Nevermind. >_>

(of course I'm joking.   Yes, I was "half" serious because I would be willing to meet some people from this forum in seattle.  I don't know if I'd want to drive up there with them per say, but I'm a pretty trusting guy in general and other but similar arrangements like car pools and shared hotel rooms I'm available to discuss.  However, I am not serious about doing it with you in particular, especially if you wanted to car pool from Ohio, because if you were willing to go that far out of your way, I'd suspect you had other motives of some kind)

Just kiddin' Landi. It was just a funny thing he posted. I had to jump in. I saw you in the video but that was it. I agree you dont look anything like him. My bad :S . You can give it right back to me when I see ya in Seattle!

I forgot about the video  (its here for those who don't know know about what he is talking)

I actually look much more like Charles mansan now, but I know for a fact no picture of me with my current hair-cut and beard exist on the net with my name in any sort of relation (unless it was done in secret, and in a place no google bot is able to find)

yes, I look forward to meeting you at PAX
