I've never given a wooden nicle about any rating and never will. I played DOOM when I was 10 and I liked it. Mom never questioned anything. Dad though didn't buy me any violent games

In Duke 3D there was a porncinema on the 1st lvl and a lickerstore on the 2nd. In the Nintendo 64 version the lickerstore had been replaced with an armsshop and instead of a porncinema there was Dukeburger.

So in the US:

Guns and fastfood

Sex and booze 

Devs: Can't you just hide "Teen/Mature/Adult" things in the settings or make it unlockable with a patch/code or something if the ESRB/PEGI would be a problem ?

I remember the German version of Carmageddon (Fine game!) had green blood and robots but a patch fixed that.

Yeah, sometimes the ESRB does strange things...... I've played Halo, and I would say that it's a pretty solit "t".

Gawds above, below, and sideways. The very idea of 'nipple guidelines' is appalling. Nuking other civlizations out of existence: safe for kids. Simple human anatomy: all manner of potential scandal.

On a semi-serious note, I hope that the online content sharing will have some way to segregate the 'prude-safe' stuff from the rest of the efforts. The fantasy genre has all kinds of good reasons for non-sexual nudity, e.g. being sky-clad to perform a major ritual.

This comic was written during the Age Of Conan mess where (female) nipple removal was a ERSB concern.

"Nipplegate". Kinda like the sound of that...... although I hope Elemental never gets stuck in something of that level of..... oddness.

I think it should be.  And by sharing picts, I mean *you* the developers, sharing nipple pictures with us!   (rather than us sharing nipple picts with outselves, which would likely go in a very *bad* direction.)

I remember when Eldar's scroll 2: Dagger fall had a "mature" setting just built into the freaking game.   It wasn't hidden or anything like that.   It toggled on and off forced clothes.   If it was set to mature, then the characters could be undressed (my little 10 year old mind was so pleased to get so much boob action) but you could install it with the filter on, and LOCK it with a password.    If that was the case, even when naked the characters had underwear on.

You can't do stuff like that anymore.  Because even if the 'adult' files just happen to be on the disc, even if they are IMPOSSIBLE to access without a mod or patch, it counts.   (see GTA: San Andreas - got retro-activly rated AO, because it had parts of scrapped 'porn games' on the disc, and with a patch they could be made accessable)

Next someone is going to make a post asking if their sovereign will be able to use the toilet in game...

Stuff like this is just plain silly.  Who gives a rats ass if your troops have nipples or not...

I had to resubmit the 'PM2008' cutscene because it lacked SFX...like we're going to randomly throw in racial slurs and people getting killed as some bobbleheads bounce down the street

It's odd that you can snipe other players in a violent realistic PvP game or use a atomic powered chainsaw to grind away alien/zombie hybrids, but if a boob pops out GOD HELP US ALL ITS MATURE!!!!!!!

Never understood that.

Its pretty funny how out of whack the ERSB ratings are. The categories are somewhat vague and they often get applied to games which do not deserve to rate them.

I hate to think what the search you used to find that image must have brought up...

uh... the search I used was google images for either "kingdom hearts Atlantica" to find the image.  I already knew what I was seeking.  I searched a few other things like "trama center screenshot".

I said to myself "are there any games where somebody is in a swim suit or otherwise be without a shirt?"  Because in most swim suit games the girls almost don't wear shirts, and it would look very stupid if the men were covered.   When the little mermaid came to mind and I exclaimed "of course!" then went online to find a picture of Sora.

geez, I didn't find Sora by searching something perverse   I just searched my mind for games where I knew there wouldn't be a shirt on the men.   I then found a screenshot of it, and posted it.

Oh, well everything changes if you already knew what you were looking for before finding it. I can't control my imagination, so I just couldn't help myself from thinking what search terms one would have to use without having any prior knowledge and what would likely show up...

I hope that we can have nipples on our females in game. All this religious based censorship really irks the hell out of me.

If, for whatever bullshit reason, it is not possible with the inital release at least offer a correct DLC pack after-the-fact.

That would almost certainly change the rating to mature real fast, which they likely don't want.

That's been my biggest eye opener last year really is how North America is totally fine with almost any kind of violence but nudity almost sickens some people.

I can only guess that sort of attitude to nudity comes from puritan religous groups and has become part of the American culture, I think it's a shame personally.  People spend all sorts of money on things that look nice, art and architecture and yet they are scared to look at one of the most beautiful things of nature, the human form.

You could apply the same kind of statement to just about any culture in the world.

They all have their priorities...which haven't changed all that much over the years.  The Internet is good for pointing out what's wrong with the world, but who's actually going to do something about it?

Personally I don't care about censorship, even though I go out of my way to purchase stuff without it.  Society will adapt...it always does.

Perhaps, I was making a general statement that was intended to show a trend.

It was based mainly by several forum threads I've seen where quite a few people said they didn't like nudity/sex etc in modern culture, most of them talking about in games or movies that contain ridiculous levels of violence.  It was in the forum threads I was talking about mostly Americans who were voicing their distaste and Europeans who had a more 'liberal' attitude to it.
