A new thing about starbases

maybe, I don't know if anyone else has found it.

I found out something, All starbases can move. Well actually I have only tried it with the TEC starbase. Though it only moves about the speed of a two ton elephent in a pool full of concrete, but it does move.

Try it if you don't believe me. Although I would suggest to give it the move order, see where it is in relation to everything else, then leave it alone for several minutes then come back and see where it is in relation to everything else then. It probably won't have moved far but it will have moved.

So you say that all starbases can move, only that TEC and Advent ones have their movement speed on the machine ε level?

That surely made it easier to code for IC ;p.

I'd check but I don't want risk getting the "look your shoes un-tied" smurk on my face..:)

I am perfectly serious and in all truthfullness I found out because I was bored and wondering why they even have the move command for the starbase.

This seems to be an experiment where the increase game speed button would be handy. If this phenomena isn't a bug or something, it could be very useful for repositioning starbases.

i was playing a mod once (Star Wars Requiem to be specific) they modded it so the Empire was like TEC, but they had an Advent Starbase, and it could move... it moved like a brain damaged horse... but it moved...

on topic now... i dont think Starbases move... honetly... i just played a game and had a look specifically... no move button... though when sped up i did see it shuffle a tiny bit back and forth but i attributed that to an effect to make it look realistic rather than stationary...

So then it must only be in Star Wars Requiem because that was the mod I was using at the time. Oh well, would have cool if it did move in the original game.

great guys, now i will just have to go home and play a game for myself.  this might be an easy mod to track down the unit movement speed.  anyone have any pointers in that regard?

dauntless look at these lines near the bottom of the starbase entity files

maxAccelerationLinear 40.000000
maxAccelerationStrafe 4.000000
maxDecelerationLinear 500.000000
maxAccelerationAngular 0.500000
maxDecelerationAngular 9.999996
maxSpeedLinear 325.000000

these are from the phase starbase in the others the highlighted lines are value 0.000000

yep its well known (at leats i thought it was) that you can make the other 2 bases move just by adding the speed values you want them to have. like harpo said just edit the lines
