The BETA is up. We plan to push this to release on Monday as it’s massively better.

What’s new in this beta:

  • Massive connectivity optimizations and updates
  • Favor Items fixed
  • Favor points fixed
  • Major optimizations to audio on low fidelity settings
  • Fixed bug that occured if you used an ability after issuing an attack command. This is the "won't chase the demigod I clicked" bug.
  • Achievements properly vaulting on Impulse
  • Sending deltas for partially completed achievements.
  • Each player now saves their own achievements and favor items
  • Fixed partial Achievement saves bug.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred if you accomplished an achievement in game.
  • Fixed a bug in disconnect dialog that would try to update it even if we had determined we did not want to show it.
  • Fixed sound performance issue (for users who were having to run without sound)
  • Changed resample rate to 24k in Low settings
  • Delayed FMOD initialization until audio LOD is set via options
  • Disabled hitbox interference from announcer messages.
  • Life's Child no longer removes Inner Grace (Sedna fix)

Custom games works great now.

I set my router to Upnp and unchecked the box in SetReactorOptions and everything worked fine.

We just need more Asian players to play Pantheon and Skirmish!

Looks likes as long as there are no 0 pings in the game, it'll pretty much work.

Played one game after eight attempts!  I gave up on the second game after 15 attempts.  Before the issues I could connect and play within 2 to three tries.

Fixed crashes = good so far

Allowing people to show up in a lobby when they eventually have a NAT failure or some other host failure = bad

The patch is far from ready for a final release.  We'll be lucky if they figure out what's going on by Tuesday!  I see no worthy patch to fix multiplayer until mid to late next week at the earliest.  Thursday will be a milestone with the game's 1 month launch and the multiplayer remains mostly broken.

 

 

Interesting that you can make these predictions on regarding time of development even though you are not one of the developers...

Brad: I wonder if players are getting into the game before all connections are officially made? If you can ready up and launch while there are green 0pings showing, that may be where the pain is coming from.

No move-attack issues, looks like that one may be fixed.  Great News!!!

I was in this aforementioned game. I got my ass beat. Tri had the most kills. The lag was noticeable on my side, but I also think that I need to lower the graphics a bit.

I still have issues with some commands not registering. It cost me a few times which was frustrating.

On the brightside, this patch is wonderful. I connect to a game within 10 seconds. I've never had problems with dropping before so I can't comment on that.

I think the other side bought something with their massive amount of favor points (I had my normal amount). I kept seeing random explosions and lightning bolts striking us from the sky o_O.

Whatever changes you guys made, you're barely inches away from solving this completely.  I've managed to connect with everyone in a lobby where I used to make none.   However, I'm experiencing game freezes with this beta, where it locks up when the host launches the match, or sometimes when they close the lobby out of impatience.  I -have- played a game so far, though, so this is a dramatic difference.

Is anyone playing Skirmish or Pantheon with the beta?  I tried a couple times this morning, and each time either it never found a match at all (i.e., the "connection info" dialog didn't come up), or I got a message saying I'd been kicked from the game for one reason or another, or I got the "A player has left the game" message at the loading screen.

 

From the sound of the reports earlier, this patch works great for custom games, but it seems like it broke my Pantheon. :'(

Is anyone playing Skirmish or Pantheon with the beta?
I played 3 Pantheon games today. Havent checked the custom games again after the 3 failed attempts to connect to other players in the lobby. But Pantheon works pretty good for me now. It  gets stuck sometimes but after a while the connection info pops up and I see the other players.

In one game we had one player drop I think, so it was a 2v1 domination. Poor guy on the other team, not even an AI for support. The other two games were fun, stable and we had no drops; the last game laged a little though, I enjoyed it very much nonetheless.

@ Stardock/GPG: Some info on what the green 0 pings mean and probable fixes would be extremely helpful, thanks in advance.

You guys are on the right path, good job. I wonder if the proxies might fix the custom games for me too, that would be great.

"NAT has failed" is what i get most of the times now, it was better prebeta.

 

But once in game everything works fine.

this is a big lie, its still happen( less often at least), and sedna heal on teamate can still randomly fail

sadly i still cant connect to anyone in the ingame multiplayer. wether pantheon nor skirmish nor custom game is working.

i tried so many things now, i cant believe it.

i´ve bought a new router - no change

i´ve set myself in DMZ - no change

i´ve disabled software firewall - no change

i´ve reinstalled the game - no change

 

really dont know what i could do else?!

 

however, i can play fine if i use gameranger...

all other games like supreme commander, diablo, battlefield, dawn of war soulstorm, trackmania etc. run without the slightest problem!

 

and i´ve still got the very annoying bug, that i cant start the game on the first try, cause the game crashes right after double clicking on the demigod symbol in vista´s game explorer. i have to double click it several times until the game finaly starts! very annoying.

 

my system: vista 32 home premium - e6750 - 3gb ram - geforce 8800 gts640 - 60gb ocz vertex ssd - router: samsung smt-g3210 (fritzbox fon 7170 sl before changing it).

Another problem that is occuring quite a bit is people timing out and dropping out, this tends to happen to a number of players at once. I guess its probably their routers firewall seeing traffic as udp flood, as it also tends to happen after a lot of connection attempts by people joining, and is worst when trying to get 5vs5 games going.

The timing out and 0 ping issue is the major issue stopping games starting atm.
