New Game Mode Idea - Dreadful Domination - BRUTAL

Just like Domination you have to capture flags to win. However, instead of the flags bestowing bonuses, perks, and buffs... they do the opposite. They hinder you... cause a universal slowed move speed, long cooldownds, less exp, slower health regen, etc etc ...whatever. Only way to win is to muscle through.

I think this would be an extremely competive and brutal gameplay mode, deserving of either a mod or an update. Think about this for a second... this would be freaking brutal.

Gah.. this would be so intensely challenging, but ultimately fun. What say you?

That's a nice idea really. But you know what? Gaming companies don't dare. They don't dare do stuff, beats me why.

There are so many ideas out there, even in their head. But they rather implement just the classic ones. 

We don't want a game. We want a perfect game. It's been too many years of gaming and game developing to always get the usuall stuff again and again.

Just dare!

I can't imagine this wouldn't be terribly difficult to implement, and it sure sounds like a hell of a way to seperate the Men from the Mice, so to speak. I think it has a limited scope, not many players enjoy being punished for actually progressing - I for one like the idea, at least in theory. Count me in!

Know what? If Modding tools are released I will make this mod, or, if I can't figure how to, I'll get some one more skilled to pull it off. Shouldn't be too difficult to implement... as far as I know, a simple change in the config files of flags should do the trick. I'd have to snoop around the files to see if that is the case or not... even if it's out of my modding skill range, like I said, I'm sure someone could pull it off. Damnit man... it would be so hardcore... so damn brutal and require nothing but absolute teamwork and strategy to complete.

This is really just one of thoughs ideas that pop up in a game fans head, and it should never have happend.

This is such a good idea, that im actually DISSAPOINTED in the game creators for not thinking of it.

Like Samuriwarlord said, we are tired of just GAMES, we want PERFECT GAMES. Classic, is no longer perfect. The men who revolutionized gaming (namely Nintendo) are the reason we even have games like Demigod. They went from having ONE concle that play ONE game, to making ONE concle that played HUNDREDS of games. Thusly people like Bill Gates (even as much of a nerd as he is) are the reason we have Computers that do this.

 

Protocept00, you just may be the reason we Re-Revolutionize gaming, I am after all trying to get a job at Gaspowered.

I agree whole heartedly. Game developers need to take more risk. Every now and then a company comes a long and reshapes the gaming landscape, however, immediatly following that change, cookie cutter games follow. Although this is human nature, what needs to change is this: Once a developer has come up with a brand new idea, DONT STOP COMING UP WITH BRAND NEW IDEAS!

I'm already making some progress in figuring this out, the game has Notes everywhere on how and what to change in the files to create a mod. I hope GPG and Stardock implement something like this soon, if not, it HAS to be modded into the game. I just KNOW that this will pick up quite a storm on the multiplayer community if it pulls off. I've been thinking about a mode like this for Demigod since I started playing the game and noticed how, USUALLY once a team has reached a certain point in the game it becomes impossible for the other team to win. Sure, comebacks can be made, but those comebacks are the fault of the aggressors making mistakes. SO I thought, well why not shake that formula up a bit... making it HARDER to win, thus FORCING the team to work together.. it would be brutal, fun, and extremely satisfying to win in this game mode, as you KNOW that you worked hard for that win. You would KNOW and feel good about winning, because the odds are always stacked against the winning team.... It would also promote a new level of competitve play and teamwork not yet seen on Demigod at the moment... another thing I would want to do if a mod like this was made, is have ventrilo packaged into the mod file... with explanations on how to use it. So that all players who decided to check it out could play it as it is ment to be played, it would also teach new users how to work ventrilo, since it is useful.

Sounds like an interesting idea, I'm all for it! Now you just have to get Frogboy or Chris Taylor in on this and you're demigood(lamest pun/joke I've ever attempted).

lol I hope so, I'll see if I can catch Frogboy when he isn't busy and get his views on it.
