Question on game!

I just bought sins of a solar empire and i would like to know:

at what "patch" or "upgrade" is the disk-in-the-box at to begin with?

I bought it on march 18th 2009

All this talk about how SF's SUCK

and how cap's SUCK

and how just about everything SUCKS in one way or another...

I want to know if this disk I just bought is at "vanilla" 1.00

or the newest "patch" 1.16?

or at some "patch" in-between

and, if so, what has been "fixed", "nerfed", "OP'd", and "balanced"?

PS: I'm not talking about Entrenchment, I just bought it fresh, no mods, no downloads, no expansions.

I believe the box game is still the 1.0 product.  You will need to register the game to your Impulse account to get the latest patch (1.16 for base Sins).

OK,

Is it a download, (probably)

and if so, can you move it from computer to computer by a USB memory card?

AND

what is different from 1.00 to 1.16?

It isn't a separate download - you login to Impulse, and it will patch the copy of the game that you currently have installed. Steam does something similar. There is no standalone patch that you can download and keep on hand; instead, you can archive the entire game.

As for what's changed since 1.0, for the most part, it's balance tweaking and bug fixed. The core gameplay remains the same. substantial. There is no reason not to patch up to the recent version.

Entrenchment, however, brings new gameplay, better AI, graphic improvements, and better performance. It will definitely make your experience more enjoyable for only 10$.

The changes from 1.00 to 1.16 are huge. To sum it up quickly. If you would like the exact changes. You will have to search the fourms for the change logs.

Does entrenchment automaticly bring the original up-to-date on all of the patches?

Buying and installing entrenchment will bring both regular sins and entrenchment up to date.

Clarification:

When you install impulse and register your vanilla sins game, it will show that updates are available for it and offer to patch it for you. There is no hunting around for install files, it just works.

Entrenchment is only available online; this makes it cost 10$ instead of 20$. Buying entrenchment allows your account to install it - it shows up as 'Available' next to vanilla sins in the game list. Select it, press install. If you try to install entrenchment before patching vanilla sins, it will show a message box saying that it must update vanilla sins first, which it will happily do.
