Advent Starbases, Trade and Culture questions

1 Are there any diffrences between the standard culture/trade structures and thier Starbase versions?  Is one more cost effective than the other? Is one more powerfull than the other, etc. ?

2 Is having say, a Tradeport and a Starbase with a Tradeport upgrade both on the same planet redundant, or do the two structures stack their effects together in some beneficial way (same question for culture too) ?

They are meant to be sort of competitive for their costs. Starbases generate more trade and more culture than a single analogous structure, but those upgrade ranks also cost more. I don't think anyone's done the exact math yet.

They do stack the same way as just building another building would stack.

Thanks for answering my noob questions.  Is stacking Tradeports and Culture centers a viable strategy agaisnt AI opponents? Or Would one's resources be better spent in just building more ships?

Kinda a weird question. Is it better to build more tradeports vs AI or more ships. Its kinda a linked issue. Trade gives you more income to buy more ships. And since fleet upgrades reduce the % of total income you get with each level, you NEED trade ports to keep you viable.

Culture is important as it

1) Stops enemy culture

2) Gives a race specific bonus (see 1 - it also means denying it to your opponent)

3) Can kill a planet by flipping it

4) Boosts loyalty by 10% (over time) and therefore boosts econ
