Sins of a Solar Empire v1.16 Change Log

Along with the latest Entrenchment update comes version 1.16 of Sins of a Solar Empire, which contains the following changes:

  • GalaxyForge maps now have their own directory and are no longer reliant on the manifest system. Once created, these should be placed in the appropriate directory (e.g on XP C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge).
  • Recorded game playback no longer causes auto-saved game files to be generated.
  • Massive memory savings paricularly for large games.

WARNING: This update may invalidate existing save games.

My v1.15 saves are okay. I updated Sins to v1.16 first then Entrenchment v1.02. My old Entrenchment replays work too. Sweet!

Just downloaded and installed Impluse.  It came up with a 1.4GB download for 1.16.  That can't be a patch, can it?  Is there a separate download just for the 1.16 patch update?

This is Impulse being stupid and not showing the size of the update, but the size of the game.  I thought they had that fixed.

Start the download and it will report correctly.  (99% probability.  The other possibility is that for some reason Impulse does not see your prior version installed, which is more complicated.)

Also, make sure Impulse has any updates it asks for.

At least, I'm assuming this is the case.  If, however, you're updating from a release disc install, I'm not so sure.  Quite a bit has been added since.

Turned out to be a 230MB odd download.  But had to download and install it via Impulse.  Should be a standalone EXE so that if I have to reinstall the game, I can just run the update without having to download it again.  Other games from other publishers that I have can always get a standalone update EXE.  Don't think I like the this type of update setup.

Right click on the installed game and select Archive.  Then you don't have to redownload if/when you reinstall.  Hell, you don't even need the original disc.

Does anyone have an idea of what to do if the orginal purchase did not come with the serial number required to obtain updates in the first place? Nothing in the manual, nothing in the box where it was suposed to be. Kinds puts a sour note on a new purchase being denied needed updates when I actually purchased a legit version of the program. Any help or ideas would be most appricated.

Thank you,

Massive memory savings paricularly for large games.

That sounds good. Gonna have to see what thier definition of 'massive' is.

Where can I find the complete change log for all changes since 1.0.0 ?

thx

Use the forums search: "change log 1.XX" There's one for each version.

When did it start working again?

For the updates list it's easier in Impulse. Right click on the game, select "View History". You see all the updates even if they aren't installed.

Patch notes say nothing about this, but in 1.15 game crashed during loading screen or about 5 minutes thereafter.

Got 1.16 and played a 4:30h-game today, without any crashes at all :D \o/
