Inexorable Invasion - The Darth and Samurye show

Inexorable Invasion - The Darth and Samurye show

The expanse of the northern pole region lay out before the obsidian palace of the Chaplain-Court. Jannat al'-Adn, as it is known, is nothing like the eden spread across the surface of New Ravion. It's surface, riddled with the signs of volcanic activity, appears flash-frozen as if stopped at the moment of activity. Icy arcs exist in the place of magma surges; dense gases from geysers are ceased in mid air. This cold environment of dying, made in the image of the Emperor, will kill anyone attempting to travel through it's frozen mazes.

Firaeon rested against the barricades in the wake of an open roof. He stared inquisitively at the surrounding lands, before turning to Cere, the Judge Magister of Earth;

Cere said to Firaeon: "This new world, this Messiana, what is it like? Are there cities and forests of pardon, as we are told, or is it shifted to a darker period. Am I welcome there, or will I appear as but an illusion and fall with time. Do they follow our faith, or is their judgement yet to come, brother."

So Firaeon thought about this, and said: "It is surely shifted to chaos, as their gates never opened for many. You will be praised and worshiped there as it's legacy commands. Their Korbanot burns their skin, they will never know their Third Temple, as they say they will. It is lost forever and they will never know it again. If we stay faithless, we will fall and it will exterminate us, and we must yet descend into the Divine Comedy for Heofon."

WARNING: This may not make much sense, but there are loads of references to religion here (It's not finished either).

Just some more fluff.

When a mortal becomes god-like in power, the power starts to 'weigh down' on the fabric of reality. In the case of Judge Magisters they have been taught to manipulate it, granting them time powers, though both this and the time flux they create are two of their many secrets. Unfortunately, the collision between flux bubbles of this intensity will destroy a pair of Judge Magisters when too close together, so Demiel uses his own power to stabilise the flux. The Rogues have abandoned Demiel, so in theory they would have annihilated each other, but their love is strong enough to bind them. On a side note, the relationship between the Rogues is very strange, because the Saiv do not actually feel interactive emotions like love, hate, friendship etc., rather their society is determined by convenience, with the exception of the loyalty they hold to the Emperor. Whether it's true love or just a forced decision is unknown.

Also, the heirloom weapons of Judge Magisters physically belong only to their master e.g. Firaeon's Helstar will incinerate anyone who touches it, while Vivea's as yet unnamed sword has a gaseous viscosity. The owners can wield their respective weapons as they would a normal blade.

A new concept is formulating here, which may or may not be introduced as an RP. In an alternative timeline, the Lombard physicist Alessandro Volta creates the first electric cell in the year 1800. This is nothing wierd, considering he does the same thing in the real world, but this is the point of divergence into the alternate timeline. He begins researching obsessively into electric weaponry, proposing insane megalomanical projects such as a giant energy laser in space, huge rockets propelled by the hypercharging of the ground, a gigantic electrically powered fortress and an army of electromagnetically powered robotic soldiers. I haven't quite figured this out yet, but he somehow makes an armada of such inventions and others, which he uses to take over a technologically inferior world.

OK, here's the setting:

By 3389, the entire human race lives peacefully under the indomitable banner of the MWIF, existing in an unsteady harmony with the Saiv and Aradian Empires. However in the same year the universe is struck suddenly by a cataclysm of unprecedented proportions, wiping out almost all life in the universe. The Saiv and the Aradians are extinguished, and mankind's glorious civilisation is reduced to tatters. History is erased.

The year is now 4728. The Enheten Igenom Styrka Clan rules what is left of Evertha with an iron fist, and having expanded outwards, quarrels with the remaining civilisations in the Milky Way, most notably the Ildamon Coreguard and the V'taren Cybrate. As there are so few people, the independance of individual ships in war has become critical, and fleets are extraordinarily rare. After 2 centuries of war, and the loss of millions of lives, the war has grinded to a bloody stalemate.

This is where the story starts. You aren't limited to this, but I would prefer it if you took on a ship rather than a nation during the RP. Superior officers should only intervene rarely, as this inhibits freedom. Everything in the universe is now incredibly sparse and underpopulated, so ship crews are accustomed to long periods of isolation from society. Earth's surface has been wiped clean of everything apart from the ground itself, so places like New York, Chicago, Tippecanoe etc. are gone and forgotten. Earth is now a dystopia under oppressive Styrka Clan rule, with polluted/ruined cities and huge desertified sectors.

4728

You'll probably figure out which faction/planet was which. You won't know the Gatekeepers though; they're the future incarnation of the Flaming Ninjas. Their ranks are filled with second-life ninjas who were victims of the cataclysm, all righteous in a sense yet angry and murderous.

Yes you can join. Almost the entire population of the universe (including the galaxy) has been wiped out, and those who do remember the Golden Era are now dead.

So, all out posts will be from the viewpoint of the ship/crew, instead of the captain, right?

Both, with you as the captain.

This will be interesting, although I had some ideas for the earlier storyline that I wanted to implement....

Well spit it out man! Just bring a tissue too.

Let me explain the events mentioned in the previous post.

The final battle was at hand on Earth. After defeating Othniel and his consortium, the Rogues become fiancé and fiancée, and the Flaming Ninjas and the Rogues go to Tippecanoe on Earth to defeat the Omen before Earth is destroyed. They have a big fight, and somewhere near the end the Omen takes a lunge at Firaeon. It would have killed him if Vivea had not jumped in the way, killing herself but saving Firaeon. Firaeon goes into a rage and destroys the Omen, but he is traumatised by his loss and kills himself.

17 centuries later, two friends of prestigious families on Evertha have witnessed first hand the suffering of the lower classes, and wish to bring down the Styrka Clan. For reasons unknown, they come into the possession of the fabled Book of Shattering, with which they plan to resurrect Firaeon and defeat the oppressive regime.

Was the Omen that catyclismic event? or was it a different event? and if so, will it be explained later?

I shall command the SCN Gatharra, a multirole capital ship. I sall be a Rear Admiral of the Styrka Clan Navy, howeverr I try to be as non-opressive as possible, and secretly am against the Styrka. He had been told stories of the heroes of old (Cryxis, Darth, the rouges, Yin, Hyroshimu, Orodum, etc.), believing that one day, peace would be brought back to the universe once more, and that we will all be united again, one day...

'sigh'...another revolt...

this is the 5th one this year. Our grip on the colonies are slipping, the word of revolution is piercing deeper into the souls of the people, and more are rising to arms against the Clan...

"Sir! The revolutionaries down on the surface aren't letting up."

"Warn them again!"

"This is your last warning! Cease fighting immediately, or we will be forced to purge the surface!!"

*Yelling, chants, and gunfire could be heard through the comm link. Some people answered, using explitives in their sentances, calling the Clan murderous zealots, fascist pigs. They have given their answer. But Rear Admiral Bartow was not about to prove the rebels right...*

"Sir, they aren't stopping. Shall we purge them?"

"No! we need to find another way. There are still civilians on the surface, as well as our own men. We purge the surface... they will all die..."

"......so?"

"..."

"Kill them."

*A voice was said through a new comm link, established by a ship that had just jumped into the system*

"....Grand Admiral Tohoku! I...didn't know the Clan council sent you on this matter..."

"Rear Admiral Bartow....your record shows that you are soft to your people...that shows weakness..."

"With all due respect, sir, but this isn't your matter. I was sent here to take care of the problem."

"And you have failed....purge them now....or I will not only destroy all infastructure in this planet, but the planet itself!"

"......As you command. Ensign Perkins...'sigh'...make it so..."

*The kinetic bolt batteries opened fire, firing hundereds of kinetic rods onto every town and city on the desert planet.*

"...report"

"95% of Hokuya's population has been wiped out, sir..."

"....very well. Send the report to high command"

"I believe you will have to do that personally, Rear Admiral..."

"why is that Grand Admiral?"

"The council wants you at their next meeting. For what reason, I don't know. Maybe because you have been letting rebels live with only slaps on the wrist. If you want something done, force and fear are the only ways to do it..."

"You sound like the Vasari from that old galactic simulation game years before."

"I don't play games, Admiral. I make war..."

*With the surface of the planet covered with smoldering craters, the SCN Gatharra leaves the planets gravity well*

God....what has humanity come to?

That is some quality reading!

Was the Omen that catyclismic event? or was it a different event? and if so, will it be explained later?

You do remember him right? The demon in jade armor. Plants stone tablets on planets and comes along to blow them up. Created by a disastrous Ildiran experiment into the soul.

The cataclysm may or may not have been caused by the destruction of the Omen, but the true causes (or perpetraitor) are known only to me...

I'll be Tal'anth of the Yaarg Corp.  He commands the battleship Shadow of Intent and is accompanied by two frigates, who have been converted to act as battleship tenders/tugs (lightly armed, repair/ammunition storage/cargo ships; do not participate in engagements). The Shadow of Intent is a salvaged Athena Stealth Cruiser.  the Stealth systems were too damaged to repair, so they instead installed heavy shields.  The ship holds a complement of 4500 crew members, and can be at "sea" for up to 18 months at a time.
hmm... italics glitch

On the bridge of the Shadow of Intent, Tal'anth stood on the raised platform available to the commander of the ship.  An officer to his left called out, "DRADIS contacts!  Tag as two medium cruisers, one unarmed merchant transport.  No IFF beacons active.  Visual coming up now...  The cruisers are firing on the merchant!  They have no flag on their hulls."

Tal'anth replied, "Pirates.  Sound General Quarters and close at flank speed and open fire on the cruisers."

"General Quarters, General Quarters.  All men, man your battlestations.  This is not a drill, General Quarters, all men man your battlestations." the intercom system announced.

The ship shuddered seemingly in reply as it accelerated, turning toward the battle, or, more accurately, the raid.  It shuddered again when the turn was completed and it micro-jumped toward its prey.

"Weapons free, weapons free.  Target the two Cruisers firing on the merchant," the Weapons Officer, to Tal'anth's right, said.

The two pirate ships quickly disappeared in a bright, but silent, explosion as the anti-matter warheads detonated on their hulls.

The Hi-Comms crackled to life, "This is the Autumn's Glory. Thank god you showed up.  Our two autocannons were disabled right when they began attacking, and our hull has medium damage."

"This is the Shadow of Intent, glad to be of assistance.  Can you manage repairs on your own?" Tal'anth replied.

"Yes, but we've got a long way to go still."

"Where's you destination?"

"Alta Hathuras.  We're taking a cargo of fuel and engine parts."

"We're heading to Hathuras, as well.  What's your max drive speed?"

"About two thousand AU/hour."

Tal'anth laughed, and said, "Take a bit of drive damage?"

"That we did.  It's at 60% right now."

"We'll escort you there."

"Thank you.  That would be most appreciated."

To help me with my story, what exactly do the Gatekeepers do, and what is the Gateway?

Samurye. :ninja:

what is the Gateway

The Gateway is supposed to be the "doorway to the New Dawn". It currently acts as an aristrocrat exclusive refugee camp and the capital of the Gatekeepers.

what exactly do the Gatekeepers do

They wish to "guide the galaxy into the New Dawn". It is unclear what is meant at this time, but it clearly involves a lot of cold-blooded killing.

The fact that everyone is killing each other may seem a bit harsh, but it's a kill-or-be-killed world in the 48th century. There are precious few comforts to be found, and most people don't know anything better than oppression.

(Cryxis, Darth, the rouges, Yin, Hyroshimu, Orodum, etc.),

Their personal identities are long lost knowledge. They are known in the Styrka Clan as the Falska Sådana, a derogatory term that was put into common use by propaganda agencies.

SCN Gatharra

This is a good name, but the Dolda Hjälte might be a more appropriate name for the ship. If you knew what the name meant, you'd see why. To avoid confusion, the Styrka navy is known as the Himlen Befriare, so the acronym is not SCN but HBS, where the S stands for ship.

Kyogre's Lair

This is a map showing Kyogre's lair in the center and the terrain surrounding it. I've also added some factions to show how an attack might look. His lab (represented by a building with a radar on it) is well defended by a defense system as well as his own private army. I'm still thinking on where the lair is located in the galaxy.

The Gatefortress

The impregnable stronghold of the Gatekeepers, located on a snowy island somewhere on the surface of Gateway. Their high command is situated inside the building represented by a 'Russian' palace.

I'm now working on a map for Earth-91367 Land of Demons. It's a wasteland in that universe; blood replaces water and malignant mutants replace plant life.

This poem fits the Rogues quite well. There are some very literal descriptions here, and in this case should be taken symbolically rather than literally:

Vultures

In the greyness
and drizzle of one despondent
dawn unstirred by harbingers
of sunbreak a vulture
perching high on broken
bone of a dead tree
nestled close to his
mate his smooth
bashed-in head, a pebble
on a stem rooted in
a dump of gross
feathers, inclined affectionately
to hers. Yesterday they picked
the eyes of a swollen
corpse in a water-logged
trench and ate the things in its bowel. Full
gorged they chose their roost
keeping the hollowed remnant
in easy range of cold
telescopic eyes ...

Strange
indeed how love in other
ways so particular
will pick a corner
in that charnel-house
tidy it and coil up there, perhaps
even fall asleep - her face
turned to the wall!
...Thus the Commandant at Belsen
Camp going home for
the day with fumes of
human roast clinging
rebelliously to his hairy
nostrils will stop
at the wayside sweet-shop
and pick up a chocolate
for his tender offspring
waiting at home for Daddy's return ...

Praise bounteous
providence if you will
that grants even an ogre
a tiny glow-worm
tenderness encapsulated
in icy caverns of a cruel
heart or else despair
for in every germ
of that kindred love is
lodged the perpetuity
of evil.

I asked everyone to take ships, so you might consider doing the same. However, if you really want to lead the faction, we'll need to work something out with Orodum, as he owns a Yaarg ship and we'll end up with you as his superior officer.

The Yaarg Corporation is an anarcho-capitalist government presiding over most of the former territories of the old Ashi Sultanate. They are not oppressive, however they don't tolerate criticism of their government. They constitute almost the entire job sector, employing people to do all jobs seen in a regular nation.

Wow only 300yrds long? Thats actually on the short side for a cap ship.

I personally have taken command of the V'taren Cybrate Cruiser Morpheus, a relatively small ship at 2000 yards in length.

I'll go into crew once I know a little bit more about the faction.
