[BUG] Vasari Starbase Phase Stabilizers Not working properly!

Hello all,

I've noticed recently while playing some games of Entrenchment (at latest patch), that there's a problem with the Phase Stabilizer ability of the Orkulus Starbases as it concerns LEAVING the (SB stabilized) system to another stabilized node.

The problem is: While you CAN leave from any world with a Phase Stabilizer (tactical) TO any starbase using the stabilize phase space ability....  you CAN NOT LEAVE a grav well where an Orkulus is using stabilize phase space to travel in a straight line to any other stabilized node (either via PS, Kostura, Ansurak Marauder, or another Orkulus using SPS).

Ie: If you have an Orkulus using stabilize phase space at point A, and you want to travel to point B on the other side of the star where your Kostura cannon just stabilized phase space - you can NOT. When you try, the fleet will path it's way to the nearest Phase Stabilizer (tactical structure), and attempt to leave from there.

The inability to leave from a stabilized Orkulus (and YES, I am sure the ability was activated) to another stabilized node - is critically vexxing. It makes it impossible to play leapfrog between your fleets and kostura shots without actually colonizing defeated worlds and building a phase stabilizer tactical structure (which makes all money spent on Orkulus phase stabilization wasted!).

If this is working as intended... you might want to put a tooltip on the starbase indicating that it's phase stabilization ability is gimped.

Thanks for listening,

-Itharus

Yep.

The targeted grav well you fire a Kostura Cannon at becomes a stabilized phase space node upon detonation... in Entrenchment, at least.

It's fun to throw Navigator's at said targets afterwards and start constructing Star Bases deep inside enemy territory.

Ahh, that explains it. I'm still playing Sins 1.05, I'm too lazy to buy Impulse. Although I'm going to soon, entrenchment looks sick. I play mainly Vasari, BTW. Any tips?

There is no differentiation in the code between different types of phase stabilizer nodes or between inbound and outbound travel to and from them. What may be happening is the ability's duration expiring and the ability still being in cooldown when you are attempting to depart from the gravity well.

impulse is free ya ejit :') :')  after you up date it allways puts you in the same star sistem

I don't know what to say to that Steve.

I fired the Kostura, watched it traverse the map... scrolled over to my Starbase, popped the ability (SPS) as soon as it was done upgrading to it, watched the Kostura shot impact the world about 4 seconds after that... scrolled back to the starbase and told my fleet to ship out about 6 seconds after the kostura shot hit (so we're talking 10 seconds after the impact)... and it gave me the aforementioned ass-backwards flightpath. I tried re-clicking it for the next 15-20 seconds trying to figure out why it wasn't working. Oh, and my fleet was on the edge of the grav well ready to rock - so travel time was not an issue.

The only thing I could think of is: Does the stabilize phase space ability spawn with the cooldown already ticking before you can use it? If so, maybe the icon just wasn't updating properly and I was in some sort of waiting period. Although, the graphic of the stabilizer was chillin' in the middle of the base (the swirling blue thing that you see inside the PS tactical structures).

I'll be firing up the game again later tonight and seeing exactly how many times I can get frustrated with this in a row to be sure that it's not a matter of my timing (or perhaps, is). Also, I'll see if the same happens when I tell a Marauder to stabilize phase space and see if the rest of a fleet can leave from there to a Kostura blasted target as well (just to be thorough).

PS: How often does the game, uhm, 'refresh' itself? This was happening pretty late in the game w/ two ai's and myself each using about 1000ish fleet supply, and there was a large battle going on, and a smaller battle at one of my star bases, and a large number of pirates were displaying their idiocy in one of my mine fields. Could things get busy enough where it didn't register the stabilized node before the Kostura sps effect expired? The game didn't seem to be acting sluggish or anything, so I'm assuming the answer is no?

PSS: And how long exactly does the Kostura shot stabilize the target for?

I was wondering about this also. I was thinking about taking the PS upgrade to a SB but haven't yet. Is this fixed yet?

Also, last night I tried to jump from a PS node on one of my worlds to a planet I just hit with a Kostura and it wouldn't do it. It wanted to path the long way around. I thought this was supposed to work? FYI, I just got Entrenchment a few days ago, and this is my first Vasari game with it.

@Itharus&SPMaverick- well, what may be occuring is that you are trying to get to a Kostura-blasted planet that is in another solar system. Phase Stabs unfortunately don't work across solar systems, only across the in-system.

This occured in a single star game for me.

I usually play single star SP games. Can you shoot a Kostura at a planet in a different star system?

In Entrenchment, each races' superweapon can target planets in different star systems. Since their was no other star system, then I have no idea what happened.

Any of the super weapons can target planets in any solar system. However, you can not use phase stabalizers to jump between systems, so you can;t use the Kostura to jump from a planet in one solar system to one in another. You'd have to have a fleet and stabalizer node in the system first for that to work.

This bug has been fixed for Entrenchment and Diplomacy at this point, I haven't had any reccurences since the last patch, and every phase stabilizer seems to be working flawlessly now. Make sure you've updated recently, Maverick. If you're still having problems after the update... lame. If you are, you might need to contact support to make sure they're aware that there is still a problem floating around.
