Estimate dates of new expansions...........

If Entrechment took a year after the original release of Sins, does that mean the second will take until next Feb?

Or do you see the second coming in time for Christmas and maybe third expansion for next summer? Of 2010?

Well, they were pouring most work into patches for 6-7 months after release, not Entrenchment. I wouldn't guess that there's going to be another year until next one. I'd be surprised if we didn't get the beta for it at least over the summer.

I agree, my guess is that the second expansion should be out by September-ish.

What's planned for the second expansion?  I'm hoping they will add some improvements to the diplomacy and some victory options.

I mean right now the diplomacy in this game is pretty terrible (unless I'm missing something).  Some of the missions they give are simply ridiculous (like the last game I played with a friend online, they always wanted me to attack him).  How am I supposed to ally with any computers when they demand that I betray my current allies.  And how can I request things from them?  It's great that I need to give them credits/minerals/crystals or destroy things for them but what do they do for me.

Either there's currently a huge part of the diplomacy that I'm just missing out on or it's really lacking.  There's really no effective way to manipulate computers the way it's set up now.

There should also be a way to set see what everyone's current status is with other players.  Who's allied with who, who's friendly with who, who's at war with who.

That and there should be some victory options to select from when the game starts.

So anyone know what this expansion should add to the game?

Will take atleast 6 months to iron out the kinks in entrnehcment and the balance issues that will come up. After that it will take 1-2 months for them to start talkign about the next expansion. / more months before beta starts and 2-3 months of beta testing. So 9-11 months. Just under a year. Unlest someone from IC coem and say they hope to be bale to do it faster.

They said the next expansion was the diplomacy expansion. And that their will be ways to veiw standign of different people with each other. Give them missions, forge better alliances including temporary alliances. Being able to accept or decline missions. And lots of otehr things I froget.

One thing i realy want the to put int he expansion is a: "Give unit to player" option. Someting the game si currently lacking.

6 months to support entrenchment? that sounds way too much. don't forget that one of the big issues in post-vanilla-support was the development of the new networking code which is now in place and working. and so far, there have not surfaced very many problems with entrenchment. maybe after a month of playing, some balance corrections will be made, but those involve less work than rewriting stuff. I really don't know how you arrive at such a huge number.

I'd join anny in thinking of something around summer for beta and late summer/ early authumn for release of 2nd xpack.

Which is great because, frankly, it is a joke.

The lack of a storyline mode and diplomacy made me set the game of the shelf for a good while. I did pick it back up again and can't wait to see these two things changed.

Yeah it's a curious thing in Sins that no matter how powerful you are, you always feel like someone's bitch ;)

GIVE ME THIS

or

ATTACK THAT

It's like...wait a second...have you seen the size of my empire?  I should be asking you for these things!  Now get out of my face before I Nova Cannon you!

Yeah, Diplomacy is horrid in this game, thats why I normally just lock teams. Your gonna spend time trying to make a ally only for them to turn on you anyway, why bother, just add yourself a ally and lock the teams.

but thats half the fun of sins your all sinning|-)

No, its the AI who's sinning, lol I never break a alliance or peace treaty, THEY DO!!!  I just have 5 or 6 nova's aimed indirectly at their planets lol

Oh I didn't know that they were going to work on the Diplomacy part of the game in the next expansion.

It is seriously terrible right now.  It's like chimpspanner said, they'll be requesting stuff from you ("Give me 1000 Credits") when you have a fleet 3 times the size of theirs.  I'm ready to just destroy you and you're demanding credits from me!?

And the AI is stupid when it comes allying.  I guess it only depends on your current % with them and nothing else.

I was destroying a computer (he had a few planets left, no real fleet to defend anything) and I offered a cease fire just to see what he would do.  He refused...  I mean he was in no position to refuse a cease fire when I was about to finish him off but I guess since I was at 0% friendliness with him he just refused.

I just love it when an AI is about halfway with you in regard to "liking" you and then they ask you to complete a task.....that involves you killing trade vessels....of an emprie you have yet to have contact with....and do not know where the hell they are in the map.

You never get a kill mission if the target empire is not within 2 jumps from one of your planets. ;)

Even better, they ask you to kill your allies vessels.

Do they ever ask you to target specific capital ships?  That'd make a cool mission.

Not that I've ever seen, just "kill X amount of ships/structures"

Nope, it's "ships", "tactical structures" and "logistics structures" for the attack missions.

i would like to see more demand options.

give me  planet, money, ... or

Nah! Just a curtain number of ships or deffencive structures.

I'd like to think that IC. and Stardocks involving the community in beta testing is pretty good at the moment, and that there is'nt that much to fix with Entrenchment. There is no doubt a few things, but maybee alot less than with vanilla. Hope so anyway. Still, I think the Dev's deserve some time to kick back for a while after all thier hard work.

Yes they do. They did a excellent job on Entrenchment. More importantly, they listened to their fans about what was needed. Most companies would toss a few units per side (which they did) fix some bugs that have been present since launch, and call it the end product all for over half what the original game cost and time to move on to a sequel.

One of the diplomacy options that would be cool would be a "give me X cap ship" or "Give you X cap ship". I can just imagine a Kol leading a fleet of illumies.

Just so you and everyone else on here knows...

Blair has already stated that they have begun development on the 2nd expansion.  It will most likely be in beta by the end of spring/early summer

And, oh by the way, IC is also working on the next big project coming after SINS...it will be an RPG, if not mistaken and Blair said in a podcast on GWJ that the gist of the new game was heavily influenced by some of the board games that they are really into...1 specific mention was the game, "War of the Ring."

Just an FYI.

Yeah! I like the idea of tributes. Perhaps even planets could be handed over in exchange for alliance.
