Help with Earth 2150

I recently purchased the Earth 2150 trilogy.

The game runs wonderful, no slow down or anything, except when i hit the construction design tab, this causes the game to crash saying its a apperror.

I am running:

Vista 64bit ultimate

AMD Atholon 64-bit X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+ 3.2 GHz

4gigs Ram

Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT 1gig

I have plenty harddrive space, 500gb free still.

Also I have tried running it in different compatibility modes and still get the same error.
