New ways to work fleet logistics

i believe the number of ships you have should be tied to the number of planets you have. say 10 ships per planet and 1 cap ship for every 2, but you get 2 cap ships for free in the begining. or have the number of ships you can support be infinate only limited by your resources, say a cruiser would cost the initial resources to build it and then ..2 or .3 from each resource to pay as a kin dof upkeep or have the upkeep cost per fleet logistic upgrades not go up as much, and be able to support as many ships as you want, only being limited on the number of planets

Fleet points from planets was done for a while in beta, with various planets offering different amount of fleet points as planetary upgrades. But that had the potential to skew balance quite a lot and make it so an unlucky random map player would never be able to match the fleet numbers of an enemy. It also creates too big of a slippery slope if only a few planets are lost.

Well, it was tied to number of planets you had originally (back in beta). And it was changed with very good reasons given.  So unless you come up with slightly better reason than "I believe," I doubt they will back-peddle on this issue. Sorry.  Maybe you shoudl try to make a MOD, if possible, that does just that.

This is what I would propose about fleet supply:

I think in additional to the ship's building costs, add a fee for each ship your have

Not so much that it will tax your income away but just enough so you get a modest income.

You don't have to like it, I am just putting my 2 cents

well if the logistics stay the same i would like to at least be able to support a larger fleet and maybe more cap ships

or reduce the number of fleet supply it cost :D

This all still begs the question: why? :P Changing stuff just for the sake of changing it is rather pointless.

Well, I'd happily welcome a change in the way fleet logistics work - I really like the idea of each ship having a certain upkeeping cost - though it'd have to be rather low.

Why change the system?

Now, sometimes one builds up a large fleet to, say, fend off an invasion or expand quickly, but after this is done, there is no way to undo what has been done, i.e. bringing to upkeep cost to higher levels.

It'd be nice if losing or scuttling ships'd actually have an impact here.

It all comes down to flexability.
