Disabling Auto join fleet

Hey,

When I build new ships and I have a fleet stationed in the area, those ships are automatically added to the fleet. This is a useful feature for some; however, it just bothers me because I want to put those ships in a different fleet.

I recall there being some sort of option to disable this behavior; however, I have forgotten what it was.

Can someone remind me? :)

Thank you!

Grrr, I found it in the entity file settings.

Nevermind.

tbh, this is really irritating. All ships should have it disabled when built, if iwant a fleet illl bloody well do it myself!

Well, in a small rebalance I am making, auto-fleet formation (for all ships) and focus fire for certain ships will be turned off.

I cannot stand auto-fleet forming either. I know how I want to form my fleets, so to have them auto-form makes it more work, since I have to just tear the fleet apart and partition it into a set of fleets like I want.

Focus-fire won't be necessary for many ships besides fighters and LRM the way that I am going to change how damage is applied. I want go to for a more epic feel to the battles instead of just seeing a crap load of spam everywhere, which is what I consider the battles to be right now.

Isn't there a setting where you can turn "auto-join" as the default for new ships, off?

I don't know. I didn't see it. Maybe it is in the game options or something. I modded it in anyway.

Yes, on each of your fleets click on the tactics managment icon and then right click fleet management and you wont see the spinning thingy anymore indicating that auto fleet join is turned off.  Simple, no modding what so ever.

Ah, well it is already modded in. It was simple to mod in too, and permanent :P.

I see what you mean.  It would appear that each ship has either auto join fleet on by default and others dont.  The one ship that comes to mind that has auto join fleet not enabled by default is the advent domina subjugator as well as the scout and colony ships.

Its a shame that its not an option from the menus to select which ships you would like to have auto join and which you would not want to.  I remember one of the big things bugging me is all the advent ships would auto join but the domina so I just moded the files to make it work.

For now modding maybe the only way around it.

Making this a mod is not to difficult it will just take a little time < 1 hr.

1) Download the latest Forge Tools

2) Unzip the tools rar file

3) Locate the \ForgeTools1.1\ReferenceData\GameInfo folder and inspect the entity files you want to modify for your mod.

4) Create a folder that you want your mod to be called and copy the GameInfo folder to the mod path on your computer.  I have xp it should be something like: C:\Documents and Settings\[computername]\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\My autofleet mod\

5) Open up FrigatePhaseScout.entity file for example.  Notice the 6th line autoJoinFleetDefault variable is set to false.  This is what needs to be changed for each of the games ships that you want to not have autoJoinFleetDefault set to.

6) Any of the entity files with Phase = Vasari, Psi = Advent, Tech = Tec.

7) Change any of the ships you want.

8) The documents folder where you unziped the Forge tools has a good example of making a simple mod.

I already made it a mod. And it took 8 minutes including the download :).

It will be included in a mod that I am developing alongside my editor release. If I ever release it.

Arisal, when i try to follow step 5, i attempt to save it and it says

"FrigatePhaseSiege.entity

This file exists with read only attributes

Please use a different filename"

Im clearly not good with computers/modding... any idea how to make this work?

-edit- just realized this thread is 3 years old :o, could still use some help :p
