Look very carefully at what's around it. TEC structures. We see it blasting a TEC Communications Tower with violet lightning. Now, would there be TEC structures around if this thing took that long to build in a system? I mean it could just be for demonstration purposes but...

It does something, besides look mean and shoot a lot? Vasari are all about "Phaaaase space", so maybe it can indeed travel between Grav wells.
If that's the case, it makes you wonder what TEC and Advent starbases do, TEC's might act as a node in trade routes, with a "+whole lot" to trade, and Advent's might act as a super powered culture center. Do we have a dedicated speculation thread BTW?

development time is money. it is in their best interest to get it out sooner rather than later so long as the quality of the release is not adversely affected. so by not releasing it to some, they are depriving themselves of potentially valuable feedback on their product, which is probably the last thing they want to do.
Not getting greedy, would just love something to dig my heels into during that nice long X-MAS break. Would hate to spend the entire time play Warhammer Online. Would LOVE TO SPEND that time playing Entrenchment instead.
Did anybody else notice all of those missles coming out of phase space? Is that the secret or can the starbase act as a phase gate as well?
That would suck for the other guy. "Hey man, not only do I have a damn starbase in your grav well screwing with you, my whole fleet can quickly jump to it from anywhere! HA!"
