More voices

I would like to have some more voice acting.  Maybe some different charactor models as well.  How about some female commander avtars for the tec.

Maybe the different computer factions could have a different voice for each faction (that is to say if you have two vasari factions they would each have their own actor).

Then the advent, I don't even like playing them since they all sound like some evil little ghost girl from japanes horry flick. Maybe we could get some varity. I now the females are the higher archs in the advent but do you think the lower level ships could have some male voices as well (like ms sam or something....)

Now the vasari.  I acutlly do like their voices but some of the avtars could use some work.  I am not going to go into the whole male female thing since I have always looked at them as aliens and who knows if they even have a gender.   But if they do some female voices would be nice.

at a lan party it was great except i kept hearing the female voice overs from other people and it was just geting anoying thats not to say the male ones aren't i find the TEC scouts dreadfull.

i like the idea but a bit more varity would be nice otherwise you hear the same phrase over and over again.

I agree the voice acting needs some work, e.g. the over chipper TEC assault frigate or the non-military phrases for tactical units.  (The TEC colony frigate sounds just about right since I preceive it more as a civilian unit.)

I think it would be nice if the TEC and Vasari unit voices have a more radio quality to them (i.e. static and/or subtle cross-channel chatter) so that the player feels as if he's actually relaying commands from a command post.  As for the Advent units, these voices can still have the "ethereal" feel since they communicate in a more "higher-level."

On the diplomacy front, I would keep the voice quality clear since they would communicate through "more official channels."

Other than the Kol, all TEC units are basically refurbished civilian ships. These are basically traders who had to learn to fight, they're not exactly a strictly trained military force - that's the voice style IC was going for for them, and that's what we have :P

Good point, I forgot about that.  Still, if they kept the same lines, I think a radio-like quality to the TEC and Vasari unit voices would add to the gameplay environment.

i like the idea of radio static in the voices. and now you mention that they are mostly traders will the TEC star base have a bigger trade boost than the other races? i think the scouts just need to sound less cheerful really, and maybe make the whole theme of what they say a bit more darker (just my personal view think most people will dis agree).

What gets me is not so much the female voice acting but the fact they sound like evil little ghost girls.

I guess if anyone is good with sound editing (which, I'm not) you could give it a shot. I like Advent but yes the voices wear a bit thin over time and all your friends think youre gay because you like the fairy race.

For example look at that Male Advent portrait, to me, it could sound closer to the Warp Spider from Dawn of War. And on that note, you should be able to specifically label which portrait you want to use for each race, and which voice pack you want to use.

I like the voice pack idea.  It reminds me of NWN.

(I'm no audio expert, but I think I'll have to try your suggestion Overheal and tweak the voices with Audacity.)

I like this idea.  Add some more charactor to different factions.

A seperate voice pack for each avatar image would be a nice touch. Maybe as part of the diplomacy pack, since it could kinda fit the theme.
