I said I would play another game as the tec and its going well. They just don't have the brute power of the vasari or the augmented monster of the advent. When you get your ships up and running they are not so bad.
The really killer is I miss phase jumping to anyplace in my empire.
I did try modding that so TEC could do that as well, but never got it to work. I suspect that thres a hardcode issue.
So what I did instead was speed up the TEC jumping 
After all, traders want to get to market as fast as possible !
Yeah, I thought they were super weak. But after I got those hoshikos and some strike craft in with my LRMs I found I could acutlly fend off an enemy fleet. As long as I can play the numbers game I don't do too badly. They eco is so much faster and easy to replace lost ships. Its just I have to replace them, sooner then I would if I was playing the other two races.
