I've greatly enjoyed the GalCiv series, and I consider my pre-order of GalCiv2 to be one of the best prchases I've made.  It really opened my eyes to indie developers, and the great games that they are producing.

I'm sure that you all have heard of Introversion software, makers of Uplink, Darwinia, Defcon, and more recently Multiwinia.  The latter game was one I was priveleged to take part in the beta testing of, and I was happy to see it released several weeks ago. It is receving great reviews, and has the highest conversion rate of demo to full version players of any of their previous games.

However, though the company has a history of making excellent games they are struggling with getting exposure for their most recent one.  They have traditionally relied upon reviews to drive sales, but few places are wanting to review the title amidst a plethora of A list games and reductions in budgets.  As a result, depite years of work and a stellar track record the company is now in a bit of a pickle.

So I am writing to you guys to ask a favor, what Introversion needs right now is exposure for the game.  I'm not asking that you do anything extra ordinary or special, just that if you havn't already tried the Multiwinia demo, that you do so.  If you like it, I then ask that you tell people about it. It is one of the best games I've ever played, and one that I'm proud to see my name in the credits of.  I know that if people just get their hands on it and play it, that they'll love it, they just need to know about it.

Thanks for any help you guys can give, I hope that you give it a try, and I'll see ya round the Metaverse!

Could Introversion not approach Stardock about putting it up on Impulse? I'm sure that'll be quite good exposure. And historically, Stardock always liked and respected small indie developers.

I don't know what communication, if any, there has been between the two companies, so I would like to think so.  However, they are currently using Steam as a distributer, and so I don't know if their agreement allows for exclusivity in online distribution.

Indeed, Multiwinia is a fantastic game (much better, in my opinion, than Defcon in every regard). It amazes me that small independent developers like Introversion are about to produce games of such consistently high quality; so it'd be great if people who haven't already could give the demo a try to see what they think about it. It's only £10 from IV's store too (if you have an aversion to purchasing it from Steam :))

I own the game so I can truthfully say that as totally awesome as multiwinia is, multiplayer is WAAAAAY better!

Multiwinia is amazing, I only wish a few more people would play.

It's been way to hard to find other players after the 1.06 patch.

I tried the demo when it hit steam but the game just didn't seem that fun to me. However, I would have given it a better if the controls weren't so awful, but I could barely control the game! For example, the mousewheel zoom was backwards from every other game I've ever played (including Sins), and there was no way to change it! Why games are released without editable controls is beyond me and in the end it's a big dealbreaker for lots of people who might otherwise be interested in a game like this.

I'm a fan of Introversion as well, loved Darwinia.

Unfortunately, I think it may just be the economy is too tight for everyone right now - I'm almost exactly average pay for a single male (probably above average for Indiana), and it's *tight* right now - the last thing I have to drop that's a 'luxury' is DSL, and I'm considering it.
