Hi im new to the forums so this probably isnt the place for this post but here goes : I place the sins dvd in the tray i select install game and i get a fatal error message pop up preventing me installing the game. Ive scoured many forums about this issuse and i see that people are saying you need to un-install the demo version and by doing so it will install the full game ok thats all ok except i havent ever installed the demo version i jus went straight out n brought teh game. So how do i get the dam game to install its driving me nutz i jus wanna play the game it looks sweet but at the mo im very dissapointed because it seems 6 outts 10 people are experiencing sum sort of prob with it. Please please help im sure sum1 must of had same problem as me if you've solved it share the love :CONGRAT:

If you're having installer issues, and have fast internet, then the simplest route past the problem is around it; if you download Impulse and register your serial/cd-key, you can simply download the entire game direct from us.

im very dissapointed because it seems 6 outts 10 people are experiencing sum sort of prob with it.


As with any game, people with problems are a lot more likely to come to the site than those without. Most people just play the game happily offline and never even realize the site exists.

The same error with both the disc and Impulse? What error is it giving you?

If you got an install error when installing Impulse itself, it suggests something is wrong with your Windows rather than Sins/Impulse. You should definitely follow the other thread's advice and install all your Windows updates.

ok so ive updated windows and still im getting "fatal Error" message. Impulse loads in then ive noticed when it gets to windows installer it crahses n i get the "fatal error" message. I updated windows installer manually yesterday and have since updated it using auto updates for windows n found anuva 14 updates but still no luck. Does this mean ill never get to play this game after i shelled out £30?

To clarify:

1) Does Impulse install fine?
2) Does Impulse start fine?

Because Impulse does not use the Windows installer for its installs, so this makes no sense:

Impulse loads in then ive noticed when it gets to windows installer it crahses n i get the "fatal error" message.

Ok ill try and explain alittle better. When i start loading in impulse it loads part way and you know you can see what files are loadin in well "windows installer" flashes past n then it crashes jus b4 the end of the load. No Impulse does not install.

What Windows are you using? XP? Vista?

This is a last resort suggestion;
There's probably something messed up in Windows itself (could be anything). Format the partition Windows is on, re-install Windows, Update Windows and then try to install Impulse again.

Okay, thanks. :)

This really seems like there's something wrong with your Windows, there's no other reasonable explanation for why even Impulse fails to install. When was the last time you successfully installed anything?

I guess at this point what I would recommend is to e-mail [email protected]. It's pushing it a little bit since it's not really directly Impulse related, but they should still be able to help you get it installed or figure out what's wrong, and in the process that will probably let you install Sins from the disc, too (or at the very least Impulse).

Firstly i wanna thank everyone for there help ive managed to install the game after all LOL. I still belived it to be the installer so i checked agen for the latest windows installer update which i found so i updated rebooted and hey presto it installed.

Now im a happy bunny hahah thanks peesp sorry stardock for avin a rant bout it

Im trying to download the update but i tdoesnt do anything other than say preparing dwnload. Am i in a queue or do i simply jus wait its been 15 mins. I cant play the game cus it crashes when i move a group of ships so i was hopin the update wud sort out these bugs.

Try clicking the blue orb > preferences > connection and enabling the new download mechanism. The "preparing download" is sort of normal the first time you update with Impulse. It's basically building a file it needs to compare all of your Sins files with the new patch so it knows what to download and apply. But try the new download mechanism anyway.

It's finding out which files it needs to update. This could take a while.....please be patient. :) It will work.

In 1.09, there doesn't always seem to be people there.
