Anti-Aliasing Problem (Fuzzy text)

When I enable anti-aliasing either in-game or through my ATI control panel, not only are the game's graphics anti-aliased, but so is all the text in the game as well, leading to fuzzy, blurry, and unreadable text. Has anybody seen this before?

4GB G.Skill
MSI 4850
Vista x64

Thanks!

Could you try messing with the gamma settings?

Does it show up on screenshots? Have you updated your drivers from the manufacturer's website?

Indeed. Drivers are updated. This problem occurs when I have Non-Maskable, 2 Samples or 4 Samples AA enabled. Same result if I force AA through Catalyst Control Panel. This problem occurs in a few other games as well, which might be interesting information. Screenshots are below. Sorry about the file size.

AA On

AA Off

Thanks for looking

That doesn't look like antialiasing, that looks like someone applied a Gaussian blur to the image.

I'd bet if that's the case that ATI has a driver bug causing it to put AA on things that shouldn't have it (flat textures, text). Though it definitely would seem to be more of an anisotropy issue, as that's where you generally see this kind of thing (blurriness).

I wonder why more people aren't having this problem if it really is a driver issue. I did a search for this topic on this forum and not a single post came up mentioning it. That being the case, I doubt AMD's going to scramble to the rescue to fix my problem. There has got to be a solution for this. Just some tweak in my driver somewhere, surely. I'll try AMD/ATI's support forums.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

Check to see what kind of filter type you have in the AA settings in the CCC -- Make sure its "box".
