5 patches later: 1 enemy ship > 50 TEC heavy cruisers

5 patches later: 1 enemy ship > 50 TEC heavy cruisers

5 patches later, the geniuses behind this game still think that 1 enemy ship should be able to defeat 50 TEC heavy cruisers. See for yourself:

http://avenger.kirenet.com/~nexworks/sins.jpg

There sits my fleet of 50 heavy cruisers, unable to move, or shoot (and conventiantly they clump themselves together, even though their orders are for Loose formation). Crippled by 1 enemy subverter ship (and they just keep spamming them endlessly). Ive been fighting in that system now for some 30 minutes. Have 130 heavy cruisers and all my battleships, and I am unable to make a dent in the enemy fleet because my fleet just sits there, endlessly disabled, unable to fight back. I target subverters only and they keep resupplying them, while their offensive ships kill the sitting ducks that is now my fleet.

I seriously suggest you to do some scouting b4 you actually go on the offensive. I mean come on! you send 30 HCs to take down 100 Vasari ships? You wouldn't win even the Vasari without any subverters.

That image only shows your suicidal attemp in the battle.

I hate to be that guy, but he may have a point. I was playing a game last night in the beta patch multiplayer, and tried subs out for the first time.

Now, I have played many, many RTS before, but only recently have gotten my hands on sins. Like 2 months ago. So I'm terrible and straight up admit it. But here it is, 630 am and im like damn im tired dude hurry and kill me so i can get some sleep. Yea no, he rushes my home with a good 50 kodiaks and at least 50 javs, plus 3 cap ships a lvl 4 marza, a lvl 6 carrier cap whatever that one is, and a level 4 kol. I had 30 enforcers 15 of the vasari LRM ships, and my 3 caps, a level 9 Evacuator, a lvl 6 carrier and a lvl 4 siege cap. I see his fleet coming from 2 phase jumps away and it scared me. I remember reading this post and decided to build 4 subs because it was all i could afford. BTW i had all AM upgrades researched. So he invades. and I watch as one of my subs disables his entire fleet of kodiaks, then manually send one to get his javelis frigates. other than caps. Grand total losses for Crakata = 3 subs. Grand total losses for tribius = 40 kodiaks and all his javelis. Kinda different losses, no?

I think it might need a different system than it has. like perhaps a certian amount of antimatter depleted for each ship it disables with the jump? because with 4 subs and full antimatter, they each get 3 jumps if the battle lasts long enough. its silly. or maybe its just my noobishness coming to the surface.

Play as the advent

ROFL! Yeah I KNR?

as of 1.09

* kind of offtopic*

Vasari have like no power any more. Their econ is the worst of any, and yet we have to pay 500 Crystal just to get the RA to one phase stab AFTER spending like 6,000 creds just to get the ability to USE the RA, not to mention building those stabs. That was not good in any way whatsoever for shorter games.

Would have been much better putting the money required for RA at half of everything.

IMO Every game has different tactics.

In long games, (80 planets+, multi or system) it's who researches the most and gets to the other system first is he who has best chance. (Your culture's cannons, respectively)

In Middle games (usually about 79-60 multi, 60-30 single), it is he who has culture and trade ports up first who has early advantage.

In Short games, it is he who has the trade ports and more than one cap ship up first who has the best chance

Frankly, the part about this that I find the most depressing is that someone is actually losing to the AI.

I forbid you from citing balance issues until you can beat on the Unfair AI like it's your wife on Christmas eve.

This has gone on long enough, this guy is obviously going to ignore anything we say. we told him strategies, ideas, everything, he is just posting because he wants to annoy all of us. well, i say we all stop helping him if he won't listen. :(

Ok, let's be realistic here. This guy isn't stupid. He's stubborn, but that ain't his biggest problem with this game. He wants to build his infrastructure, construct a fleet with as much bang for the buck as possible, and throw it at the enemy and watch it decimate him. His big problem is that he's impatient & wants instant gratification, which you just ain't gonna get out've a RTS. I really just think that this type of game isn't suited to his tastes.

Anne, really, no insult intended, have you ever tried Civilization? True, it's turn-based, but you get to build up your army and fling it at the enemy without having to micromanage everything in combat. Then again, you're liable to get po'd as you watch your modern infantrymen, mechanized infantry (and sometimes even tanks!!!) get torn to shreds by 14th Century longbowmen.

Every game's got is picadillo's, Bro ... gotta deal ...

Oh, and this game's AI is, in my opinion, both stupid and timid. It sends out constant streams of scout ships (smart), finds out where you're weak and where you're strong (smart), then spams subverters evey minute or so at your main fleet (smart), but doesn't follow up with a quick strike to take them out (dino-dumb)!

To top it all off, even though their fleet bordering your weak side greatly outnumbers you, they don't attack there, either. That part I have to agree with -- anyone who loses to this AI couldn't beat a retarded chimp at tic-tac-toe!

I must commend Annekynn on his patience and temperament.

So many of you are outright insulting him (though you'd be unlikely to do so in person, oh so brave behind the screen) and not even bothering to look at his examples or read his patient replies.

Sickening.

we read his replies, we responded, and he still never does anything different. i believe it was ben franklen who said the true definition of insanity is doing somthing the same way and expecting different results, this guy is INSANE :(

INSANE

Albert Einstein once said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. Think about this quote for a second and ask yourself, does this quote apply to the way you play sins?

A large part of the general community consider anyone who spends large amounts of time on the computer playing space sims to be insane ! Spending large amounts of time in forums talking about them is also largely considered a form of insanity !

Face it the guy is a freaking moron, he removed them from teh game good for him. Lets move on. Its not like we will ever see the scrub in multiplayer. He cant mod his suck out there.

That was uncalled for.

If you cant comment without being insulting, please dont comment.

Many of us do not play multiplayer, and assuming that multiplayer is superior like you infer, is not a valid comment.
