Jsut a thought before the FINAL_PATCH_DAY(?) starts... HOP HOP HOP! lets have the Ptach up for d/l before I need to go shave and hop in the car for work!!!

I have to do that with my own money at the moment and unfortunatly hot intelligent females are mutually exclusive with a life of such True Gameing.

There is something I do that helps both my gameing and my 'real'life and it's called multitasking. While I wait for the SOASE Beta. I make sure that all my real friends in SL aren't getting angry that i'm such a nerd and leave me...

the game worked perfectly fine from the start. Considering how complex the game is, it is no surprise that the game may have some MINOR issues. The devs put out 6 patches in 6 months I believe - you should be ecstatic with how this game is developing.


I am happy with how the game itself plays, I'm not happy with how it works online. Considering that this game has no single player campaign, I think it's fair to say the multiplayer component should be a very important feature. It only works "perfectly fine" if you think playing against AI opponents over and over again is fun.

I don't know what game you've been playing, but my one has been working fine in every sense of the word. Quit over exaggerating.


Again, the sense of the word I refer to is that it doesn't work well online (minidumps are frustratingly common, and most people don't have the technical knowledge this game requires you to have in order to set up your ports to host games). We all agree this is a fun game, and yet the fact that huge numbers of people have purchased this game has not led to more than ~100 people playing online at any given time worldwide. The reason why so few play online? It barely works. Simple as that. This isn't a minor issue, and I'm not exaggerating the numbers.

Ok so it's the 22nd (July) here the final day of waiting(?) on a Beta that i'm not sure of exists in the first place?

No really i'm not joking i'm seriously confused, because some people insist they don't know nothin about a Beta or a patch. Maybe i'm talking to the wrong crowd about it, but these convos are mostly in game MP ICO. So all I am saaaayinnnn is give Patch a chance! SING IT! :CONGRAT:

P.S.: why the hell does SINS sometimes crash and report a minidump? Is my computer that inadequate?

If there is a minidump file present, please zip it up along with a copy of a dxdiag from your PC and a description of what you were doing when it occurred to support(at)ironcladgames(dot)com. Please note that you must provide your Sins of a Solar Empire serial number in your email to receive support (anti-piracy measure).

That is a perfect example of why things still don't work. Sure, you can send in helpful error information...... if you are savvy enough to understand what a "dxdiag" is, what minidumps are, where minidumps are stored, and willing to go to all the trouble. Sort of like how you can't host unless you understand what port forwarding is and how to do it.

Both of those things are easy. So easy that 95% of people can't do them, and as a result, minidumps are still a major issue and the vast majority of players are unable to host games --leading to most people just giving up on playing online completely.

While it doesn't explain what a dxdiag is, here's the part I didn't post from the tech FAQ.
* My game has crashed and told me it saved a "minidump" file. What do I do?

Please open Windows Explorer to the location below and see if your dump file is there.

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\Sins Dump

Vista: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\Sins Dump

thank you for the help Kitkun, and fortunately enough i am familiar on how to get those commands. just didn't know that the game was so buggy :(

I'm finding out more and more about the game as I type. It just hit me SINS is a huge BETA man! what am I so happy about here? Seeing that i opened a post called Unofficial - Patch countdown ... I should have made a post stating: "Official Noob Posting about A Beta for a Beta 0.0". No offence and no sarcasm from my side IC. Any news on the Patch? Cause we're still waiting for it :)

Minidump is strange, Ive NEVER had that problem...

Might be because my computer is buff... I have a 250GB Harddrvie... And the only 2 programs I have are Sins and Impulse...


I am running:

Dimension XPS Gen 3

Vista Home Premium

4GB Ram + 2GB Ready Boost

Dual Core Processors, (3.00 GHz & 3.60 GHz)

NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX (Liquid Cooled)



The only problem I get now and then is, "It wanted a video driver to do something it cant..."

They put together a good game, gave it some good patches then put up a fake patch note to get people's hopes up SIMPLY to youtube the reactions from the community. All that work for a trick... They even waited like a year to make sure people would actualy buy the game so the number of people fooled would be much larger and thus all the more sweet! Alas whateh shalleth we doeth noweth?

This has to be the largest amount spent on a simple youtube trick ever... Thats difficult to grasp the scale of this event, its mind boggling!
