I purchased this and got serial number and link to download via SDC,

PM 2008 not listed on SDC though, I tried to register on newest Impulse but get error 103 after being told I am expired.

Help thanks, I have raised support ticket as well.

After a rocky start (it wouldn't recognize my serial) I'm downloading now.

I'll report back about how poorly I've done after I lose horribly. ;)

You know... I have almost no interest in US politics.

But I had the choice:
Buy PM2008 for 13 Euro or buy the Spore CC for 13 Euro.

Who deserves 13 Euro more? Stardock or EA?
So I spent the 13 Euro on PM2008 just so EA didn't get my money for their DRM scheme.

Really, a simple choice. :D

pndrev: Thanks man :) We appreciate it.

Plus the bobblehead maker is pretty cool in it's own right. It's no CC, but it's still fun :)

And I couldn't miss out on running for ruler of Drengi. :D

Just finished my first game, and my bootie-whuppin' ticket of the Mighty Bills (Bill Richardson and Bill Clinton) just waltzed all over a McCain/Romney ticket.

Suckers. Don't mess with the Bills. ;)

First impressions on the game: Tougher than I thought it was going to be. I had a lot of fun trying my hand at creating a new candidate, just to give up and play with someone whose politics I already knew I liked (Richardson). It played more or less like I expected, but it still had some surprises for me.

It's funny and cartoony; it's goofy and the way the heads bobble back and forth is hilarious. After one game, I don't feel like I wasted my 20 bucks; I don't know if it will have the replay factor of GalCiv, but one can hope.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my first match. Thanks for a fun game, Stardock. :CONGRAT:

I bought it just for the perspective of an American high-school child on Europe.
Can't wait for it to finish downloading.

Edit: Looking forward to a proper Europe expansion pack!!!

One question though: The premade candidates seem to have more than just the 100 points assigned to issues. I can only take a stance to maybe three or four issues, while they have a lot more. Is this correct?

Will a demo be available for this. I have to admit my interest is piqued, but not being a fan of politics, and even less of a fan of us politics, I need to be semi-sure that I'd enjoy it ;) (Though with the awesomeness of the blogging/community features here on Impulse.. I'm this close to buying it purely out of goodwill).

By the way - I almost bought GalCiv2 and SoaSE purely based on one of my mates at work raving about them.. Unfortunately I'm more of a fantasy gamer.. Any plans for Stardock to do something more Strategy/RPG/Resourcish ala Heroes of Might and Magic? Or would anyone on here have any recommendations?? I'm trying to swear off Steam, and I'm hoping Impusle will have what I need..

Stardock has stated that a fantasy turn-based strategy game "not-MoM" (working title :-p ) is next on their to-do list. I think pre-production has started. (we've seen some concept art pictures)

P.S. MoM = Master of Magic, a classic fantasy turn-based strategy game from the makers of Master of Orion, in much the same mold. I think it came out between MoO1 and MoO2. Google it, it's certain to have at least a nice wiki entry and some gushing fan pages. :-)

Yeah, making sure gamers got max re-playability out of the 2008 was hard for us. We included the scenerios, which a fun for a few runs (just to see the different issues and shows) and the campaign (who dosent want to beat Abe Lincoln and George Washington) but I think the real 'replayability' comes in the Multiplayer. At the office we had tournaments and played the hell outta MP, and getting to election night and squeeking out a victory by willing Cali never got old :)

Thats a big reason we're pushing (read: forcing) people to use Impulse to DL PM2008...once the Multiplayer stuff gets hooked up there, we should see alot more traffic. PM2004 hardly ever had MP games being played, which was a shame cause even those were pretty fun :(

Politics in general really bore the heck outta me, and especially American politics. Plus, I'm not even an American :)

But what the heck, I bought it for the principle of supporting what you guys are doing here, so I'll give it a whirl, perhaps I'd like it anyway :)

I look forward to hearing more about this..
Thanks mate!
