Why does the Percheron Cruiser have an anti-matter pool?

Why does the TEC carrier unit have an antimatter pool if it doesn't have any researchable special abilities?

I believe building fighters/bombers requires antimatter for the carrier cruisers ;)

Making jumps between planets require antimatter (I think around 100 each jump, although I have a theory that the amount required for each jump varies on the distance of the jump).

I'll have to test that . . . Wouldn't the UI say the cost per squad?

I seriously doubt that that it requires A-M. First of all, some ships like the LRM Frigate doesn't even have antimatter, and often jump when I have zero in my reserves. The colony ship comes to mind, it often has to wait about month just to get enough antimatter to colonize a planet after a jump, and I never leave it lying around after it does its job.

It costs antimatter to build a fighter. This puts a limit on the number of fighters that can be replenished in battle before significant slowdown.

It also costs up to 100 antimatter to jump. If the Ship doesn't have an antimatter pool this doesn't apply. If the ship has less than 100 antimatter, it will just take what's left.
