Telekinetics

Is it real? Can anyone here perform it?

I'm just asking about Telekinetics. The ablility to move physical objects with your mind.

I have heard alot of different things about it... some say it's not real, others say it is, Some people say they actually CAN do it. I have seen people Levitate themselves as high as buildings. But it's on tape and I don't know whether to believe it or not.

I have found sites that tell you how to do it. Says it can take months or even years to even get the basics of it. I want to get other peoples opinions on this too.

Do you think it's real or not?

The only people who say that they have telekinetic powers are

A. Liars

B. Liars who perform illusions for show.

C. People who got so engrossed in the "OH MY GOD TELEKINESIS SOUPER COOL!" thing, tried it themselves, and were convinced that they were some sort of supernatural mutant just because a light bulb burnt out after 4 hours of concentrating.

as far as I can tell there has never been even one succesful test of any psionic power under controlled conditions using the scientific method.

so the answer is none that has been proven to a sastisfactory standerd.

Given that 1 - quantum particles are actually processes, not physical objects, and 2 - a nearly infinite multiverse through which your perception transits from one quantum expression to another, then yeah it certainly is possible.

It is also possible (and probably more likely) for your shoe to spontaniously change in to a miniature pink mastadon. It is, however, exceedingly unlikely to ever occure. Given that the perception path through the multiverse follows a route of high probablility, having this occure is astronomically unlikely.

Therefore, I would have to say that anyone who says they can do this is full of dookie.

Actually Mind readers and Psychic's have been proven. they exist. There is still further testing needed to prove Ghost whisper's and Fortune tellers but Mind readers are Real. Scary and totally unexpected to hear but it is true.

That's why I was asking about telekinetics... I heard their was a special group who perform Telekinetics on themselves for entertainment and money but i'm just not sure whether to believe it.

And the study to support that? The US experiments in the 20th century were all performed by non-sceptics (as far as I can see via a quick read on the Wikipedia), the environments could hardly be called controlled and the results were mediocre and not even repeatable. The most famous participant perhaps was Uri Geller and I don't have to tell you just how fake he is. Great PR though. ;)

As much as I like to pretend those phenomena exist (huge fan of fantasy literature, X-Files and everything), I still have to read any report of real evidence. So, my answer to the question would be 'no'.

Mind readers and psychics do not exist. They're just people with heightened perceptions of other people, they can take much more subtle clues than other people. Any study that proves they exist is obviously the result of inaccurate data/flawed procedure/extremely small testing base. Just because it's a "scientific" study doesn't instantly make it true, and I still haven't seen any of these psychic proving studies.

they don't really put them on anymore... shame, I really liked watching those things... Oh well they exist in my head (No in a literal sense, just in my imagination).

Watch it and after that google for "cold reading". Derren Brown is a psychic magician who claims to be able to reproduce almost any supernatural skill of mediums etc just by psychology and hypnotisation. It is not about really doing it, it is about making people believe, you are doing it. You may be able to be good enough in reading body language and psychological manipulation to even unsettle scientists.
