Interestingly, this is Off-Topic forum seems to be a Stardock-wide Forum (I lack a better term), hence it exists in the forums of other games as well (Galciv2, for example).

The Off Topic Forum will appear in all Stardock Sites as a "common" forum, others specific to each of their products, usually, appear only on the Product specific site. Even then it will not be apparent on the surface that its a common forum as it will appear in the "look and feel" of the respective Product Site.

Its a good idea, although it can produce a seemingly strange result at times when posters go into Off Topic and make Product comments without (not unnaturally) referring to which product they are talking about. Some confusion can occur therefore when Product comments are made in the Off Topic Forum, when its more appropriate to use a specific forum not "Off Topic" - but in the real world thats no biggie.

It works well.

Actually it's just the game sites that have the Off-Topic section that gets shared. They don't show up on WinCustomize or JoeUser.

(Thank goodness. The fine folks of JU would get all sorts of ugly on most of the Off-Topic threads, because we do not puss around. You all should come play with the big kids on JoeUser if you really want to sharpen your 'yummy-yummy' innards-viscerating chops. Same login info as your Stardock ID.)

w00t! same here, great game Ironclad, great game. I first downloaded it illegally to see what game it is (and 'cause I thought it was mainly off-line anyway) 'cause I saw some beta movies on youtube. But then it struck me how great this is and that you can also play online; I immediately bought it, worth every penny in my pocket :):):)

Not on this one they will not. Those who cut loose on the ego on this site are usually advised to go to JoeUser if they want to chase the ego

because we do not puss around

Thats the reason why it can be hard at times to converse with "the big boys" there. They have more sense than to get stuck into an ego fray. Dr Guy for example, a good man who converses articulately, and with passion on what he believes in, and will readily listen when its not his area of expertise - the latter is a rare commodity in these days of the unaccountable anonymous Internet User & Blogger.

You all should come play with the big kids on JoeUser

Have done so for a long time, as many here have done so. You cant compare the two Sites though - its like comparing chalk and cheese. Both exist for different reasons, and the culture of both is different. Here you have to stand up and be counted if you give advise, and defacto held accountable for the quality of that advise. Its a practical site, by in large, where in the main your remarks can be tested and validated almost immediately. JoeUser tends to be more, esoteric shall we say, opening the door to some "interesting" motives behind some personal posts.

All good fun at the end of the day. The problem comes when some treat them like a substitute for real life and personal relationships - that leads down a rather dubious road.

I agree with most of what you've said, Zydor, other than your praise of Guy (who I feel is an utter twat with nothing up top but a bunch of hot air who is long overdue a severe kick in the jimmies). Mostly I make comments like that trying to get some new blood to come and play in the JU waters.

Besides, there's a whole lot more than debate over there. Some of the finest writing you'll read can be found in those pages - everything from compelling fiction to travel journals to 'mommy-blag' posts (that can actually be quite entertaining) to everything in between.

But there's plenty of debate to be found, too - everything from well-reasoned, carefully constructed posts to bitter, vitriolic diatribes that aren't even coherent. But it's all fun and games.

So, I'm just trying to get new kids in the pool. ;)

Well understood, and I agree - paddle away  JoeUser is good fun, as long as you have a thick skin, but thats true for most open discussion Boards. Considering its not - as such - "policed" its tone, in a relative sense compared to many Internet boards, is remarkably civil.

Now dont beat about the bush .... say what you mean
