Anyone ever played: Emperor of the Fading Suns

God how I wish Stardock would do a version of that....

I LOVED the scope/feel of that game - the church, the guild, the dark savagery.  But, the AI sucked (was nonexistant) and the game was riddled with bugs.

But, it is a lot more do-able today.  Sooooooo, Brad, ..... surely you have time to do it :) ?

Well let's see: First, Stardock has to get The Political Machine out in time for this year's election, after which Brad's putting virtually everyone on the (as yet to be announced) fantasy TBS game. Plus there's Society, which while it likely won't be coming to fruition anytime soon, they still have to try and work on that when they can. Not to mention GalCiv 3 (hopefully someday).... ;)

Yeah, I don't think they're going to have time to make EotFS 2 anytime soon. Even if they did, however, I highly doubt Stardock would do so, as they'd have no real reason to create *two* space strategy series (when they already have Galactic Civilizations).

That said, I admit it would be awesome if someone would make a sequel. I heard it was a pretty cool game (even if the AI was atrocious), and I like the setting; it'd be slightly different take on the standard 4x format. :HOT:

Yeah the setting and atmosphere were pretty good, the game mechanics were ambitious and the problems could have been fixed, ditto the pudding-brained AI that was really the death knell. Near miss - playing later with some of the fan-made mods showed really how close it was to being a very good game.

I too hope somebody picks up the setting, it had a lot more personality than the usual bland aliens with arbitrary backstories in most games.
