What the heck are space ponies!?! i see them mentioned, but how do you get them, and what do they do

Space Ponies are the stuff of legends. Occasionally, rarely, if you meet the proper conditions. A space pony will appear and act as sort of a buff to your Flagship. Do get the achievement pertaining to them, you have to get a squadron of 5 space ponies to assist your flagship.

Space Ponies is a reference to a very ancient beta joke :P They don't actually do anything when you *find* them, and I just gave you a hint on how to get them :P
