If You Have An Opinion On The Price Of The Full Version SPORE Creature Editor, Click Here.

$10 + $50 = $60

I believe that the developers behind SPORE should make the deal a little sweeter. Perhaps if they offered a $5 discount on the full version game from digital downloading and an exclusive developer interview/editor tutorial, this would be a little better. As it stands, it seems like a gimmick greedily designed to charge consumers twice.

If you have an opinion, state what your opinion is and give a short explanation.

I believe that the deal is bitter.

EA is charging twice for the same content and relying on hype to make the sell. They should sweeten the deal. It is important that they do this because populating the game world with content for the release is important.

I get email on Spore news. I've been following the development of this game since it received such high acclaim at E3 - what - almost 3 years ago now? So I heard about this editor pretty quickly after they decided to go this route, and I've been trying to sort out what I think about it ever since then. I think I've come to a conclusion.

I'm for it. I don't think the 10$ is really purchasing game content. If it were solely that, then I would agree that they are charging twice for the same thing. What they're actually selling, however (my opinion), is time. Time for you to play with creatures before the game comes out. Even if those creatures could NOT be imported into the game at release (and my understanding is that they can be), becoming familiar with the editor and all of its possibilities is a product with a value. In this case, the value is 10 dollars, and it is up to the consumer whether or not they think this product is worth that. There's basic capitalism for ya :)

Myself, I'm on the fence as to whether or not I want that product for 10$. I have blown 10$ on sillier things, so I just might if it's downloadable. If I have to order it and wait for it to arrive, (no stores in Italy are likely to stock it), then probably not.

Wow. I guess they made a good gimmick. :p.

It may be a gimmick and it may be purely for generating extra cash flow... Regardless, one of the things I love is the ability to customize my characters...greater flexibility translates to more fun for me. $10 for that gimmick is a small price for my fun.

Yes, I understand its psychology. I just think it is absurd. But, apparently it works. I will wait until its release, when I do not have to spend 20% more for the game.

I'm no fan of the "gimmick" but I guess you always pay a premium for impatience. If you wait about a year after release, any half decent game will still be around, at a discounted price, with a full array of patches.

I've taken that tact with "The Witcher", and it appears an "enhanced" version will be released in the fall, with a whole bunch of goodies.

Why would EA choose
in their comfy shoes
to alienate
those who already would deviate
from their taxing tactics
and frantic antics
to make much cash
at the cost of a will to smash.

Some of you seriously over-estimate the damage done by selling a "demo" in advance. People that actually pay attention, notice this, and get annoyed at them over it, already pay attention. If your dick is so far up your ass that this will prevent you buying anything from EA on principle, you stopped buying anything from EA on principle about a decade ago. Either the game is good and doesn't tank at release, or it isn't and we're not interested. Whether or not the full version of the creature creator cost $10 is irrelevant.

I just want to make humans with elephant heads. If I can do this earlier..why not? Big deal 10 bucks. I find it on the ground. I bought garrys mod 10 for 10 bucks, If I waste that money, I can waste more.

I can't fight that logic. I guess we aren't all as poor as a graduate student.

Typical EA. They've found a great way to double dip. Charging for an EDITOR is lame. I will happily pirate it if it appears. Despite hating EA, I will most likely buy Spore (though not on release day. Let other suckers deal with the bugs first. If the game is an utter trainwreck, I want warning). I will not pay for the editor twice.

It's yet another money gouge from EA, and it saddens me to think if this succeeds, more developers will try it. Massively overcharging for the damn games isn't enough apparently. (If $50 wasn't overcharging, you wouldn't see the games reduced by $20 just a few short months later.)
