curious about Vasari

So, I picked up Sins a a few weeks ago and just installed it last night. Obviously I don't know too much about what's going on, as I'm about a half-hour into my first game. I was reading over some of the materials here and I was wondering whether by playing as the Vasari, you gain some insight into the identity of the mysterious foe that has been tracking them throughout the galaxy? Or is this something that will be incorporated into the expansion's campaign mode? Just curious.
