Expansion Request: No Space Elves Allowed

I freely admit that I hate all elves.  LOTR elves, space elves/Eldar, dark elves, light elves, green elves, brown elves, orange and blue striped elves, Elfquest elves, Christmas elves, Keebler elves.  I'm just sick of seeing them.  An elf in a game means to me that the developer couldn't be bothered to think of anything better, of which just about anything is better than elves.  I have to get this out on the table.

I realize that I am not in agreement with many others who really love elves.  I don't hate those people, I just really don't like the object of their affections.

While I do enjoy a certain satisfaction in blowing up elves in videogames, it's not enough to make me want to have them in the upcoming Sins expansion.   If my vote (if there are votes) counts for anything, devs: please do not make the new races elf-based in the expansion pack.

I suppose if those who wish to defend the honour of elves want to speak up, this would be the time to do so.  Elvis (i.e. The Kind Of Rock And Roll) is different.  Elvis I like a lot, however, I would be mortified to have to blow up The King in any game of Sins.  Ah-uh huh, thank you very much.

Here's a cool suggestion: what about a race that isn't humanoid? Super-intellegent plants that control dumb mammalian creatures through pheromones? Not bad.

I agree. I want to see more creativity in the races.

I love the advent.

The vasari remind me of the Drengin, and every game needs a super evil empire race (which should be humans before it is an alien race in my opinion). So that's ok.

NO elves :CONGRAT: in games that take on a theme of the past OK but no sci-fi elves i agree

LOL SQUATS!!!

Well can we have lord Mazdamundi at least (I dunno if I spelled that right, its that lizard guy from warhammer that killed like 9 clans of Dwarves with a flick of his wrist :D) ?

Can we have vulcans? Or are they out due to that they are elves in disguise?

an aquatic race would be awesome

How about half human, half Vasari subfaction. The Vasari can have kids,... right?

They don't fight though...

Well I haven't really seen the Eldar described as 'space elves'... to be frank, the Advent already feel like a total rip off of either the Eldar or the Aeon... though that's only recently. The 'Race of female super-psychics' is pretty cliche in sci-fi ...

Not all the Eldar are chicks though.

Okay I vote Squats.

I rather have something like the Beast in Homeworld:Catalyst.

Some organic race would be sweet too.

How about little balls of fur that have a high growth rate and are very colourful?

My vote is for Evil Undead Robots (Though they probably shouldn't be as overpowered as the Necrons are, then again no sensible race should be)

Additionaly i feel this needs responding to

Then you have not been paying attention.

tribbles make very poor video game races

We already have robots in the TEC. Thought I do like the ideal of homeworld's Beast faction.

But the best faction to make in the expansion, is the pirates, as most of the work is already done.

I would like to see something truly alien, something beyond our comprehension and not fully understood even the sins universe.

I would prefer something along the lines of a Brutish alien race. Think Reapers from mass effect.

I'd like to not see elves either. The only elves I can stand in space are the eldar, and that's more because they're a study in arrogant decadent prickery instead of the usual happy frolicky magical elves so common. That and they only come in two flavors, which is (unfortunately) a sign of restraint, and in their case actually makes sense. In short, even though the eldar are space elves, they junked most of the cliches, which made them bearable. However, it's been done in warhammer, so don't do it here, please. Oh, and try not to add more human rebels, it'd probably cheapen the advent unless done just right.

The problem is that most of it has been done before. Elves, Dwarves, Orks, Zergs, Insects, robots, all sorts of beasts, even space dolphins (SoTS, which wasn't all that great to be honest.)

Now if the Devs could could come up with something VERY original, that would be great. Of course sins is an awesome game as it is, any addition of a race would make it even cooler.

I would love to see something like out of Alien series... Not too many RTS franchised on that yet.

I'm excited about the new campaign! :)

If it's beyond our mortal comprehension, how the heck are we supposed to think it up?

And ironically, a lot of that has done before it was done (tyranids before zergs, endless mythological creatures before fantasy creatures before sci-fi creatures). Nothing's really original except for thinking it through, having it make sense, and doing it well. Just come up with an idea that hasn't been done to death that you like and makes sense, and flesh it out well. If you do it right, the new race will just belong in the galaxy, and that would be awesome :D .

hallucinations. Don't do it Ironclad! :p . Nah, just be creative, anybody who can make a race like the advent that just gushes attention to detail and culture like that has it in them to make another awesome race in them.

I don't feel the advent are all that similar to elves, there's a lot of ambiguous undercurrent behind them that isn't in non-warhammer depictions of elves, and they've got an altogether more human feel. Elves are cliche. Advent are a breath of fresh air. Sure they play a bit similarly, but they're a distinct entity with their own story and character.

Okay Necrons or Squats. Either one would be freaking awesome. They would so screw around with the Advent's brain powers. And they could summon a god from a star to lead them on a war of genocide reaping a terrible harvest!!!! THE STARS THEMSELVES WOULD BURN OUT!!!!!!

Squats would be irritbale little short people that drink, swear and fight a lot. They could be Sins new mascot!!! Drunken little people with beards!!!!!

Yeah, agreed.
