explanations on how damage, armor, damage type and armor type works

Hello,

I'm still learning the game but I have problems figuring out how combats are fought.

How are damage vs armor working ?

Is there armor type and damage type (From various post I think it is the case) ?

That would help me understanding why this ship is good against this other.

Thanks

Thank you very much !!!
It's much more than what I dreamed for :)

Note: it seems not to be 1.03 info, but that doesn't matter I'll make the changes :)

I was working when I checked the site and I was wrong: the site contains 1.03 info

But how is armor and mitigation working ?

Mitigation works precisely how one would imagine - reduces incoming damage by that %. Despite the fact it says Shield Mitigation, it actually works at all times. Phase Missiles that ignore shields also ignore mitigation however. It also increases whenever the unit takes damage, and goes back down when not being attacked.

1 Armor = 5% Extended HP Roughly (i.e. a 200 health unit with 2 armor, will take 220 damage worth of attacks to kill, 3 armor would take 230, and so on), only applies on the hull. The advantage over just 5% health is that it's easier to heal/regen.
