Ok so I am just throwing this idea out there because I am a Halo fanatic and I think that this game could easily incorporate the Halo universe into it. I am not a very good designer but I can provide support and more ideas. There are already two races that could easily be changed into the Humans and the Covenant( TEC and Advent). All we would have to do would be to change ships some and add  gauss guns to most TEC Cap ships. I know this might take a long time but if it means that we will finally have a Halo space combat game then it will be well worth it.

its called a wave cannon for a reason.  the advent plasma is what its suppose to look like.

There's not much to see really. To my knowledge all we have is the Phoenix-Class, Marathon-Class, Halcyon-Class, FFG-Class Frigate, Destroyer, SMAC platform, and Covenant Assault Carrier. I know that does seem like a lot, if you comapre to the large amount of ship and structure types in Sins it's relatively minor. Plus, the alpha is for team members to be on the same page while developing the mod. Don't worry, we should have the Beta out soon enough. If you really can't wait, get some modelling, texturing, or coding skills and you can join the team. We'd really appreciate the help.

Seriously, no mod can ever put a date on releases and if they do, it almost always has to be moved. I'll say this: we'll have the beta out within 5 years is we don't lose interest ;) . I'm not getting mad at you, just stating a simple fact about mods for the umpteen-millionth time.

Ok, here's a little mini-update. I took screens of Halo characters and Photoshopped them to make player portraits!

     

  

Oh, and as for the Alpha, you don't want it. It doesn't play very well (duh, it's an aplha).

a suggestion on the player portraits(if you wanna go through the extra work) would be to get master chief, along with the arbiter from halo wars(if possible)

Here's a little teaser battle tale for the loyal followers of this mod.

I was playing a round as the UNSC by playing both sides I was able to set up a massive fleet battle of 71 CCS cruisers and 6 Assault Carriers against my force of 53 frigates, 31 destroyers, 14 Hokies(yes I know they aren't UNSC but I needed repair ships), 1 Phoenix, 1 Halcyon, and 4 Marathons.

I loaded the fight 3 times. In the straight up fight my UNSC forces, which didn't even have a 2:1 advantage were utterly annihilated, but through careful maneuvering I was a able to fight two separate groups of the Covenant ships. I won, but I had only 11 frigates, 3 destroyers, 1 Phoenix, 1 Halcyon, and 2 Marthons left at the end of the fight.

this was really great experience, and I hope you enjoyed my story and I would say so far the balance is quite accurate

 

And Juggernaut we already have several characters for portraits, can't say more

The Master Chief never commanded ships. He was always on the ground. In fact, he disliked warships because he had very little control.

I watched ALL of the Halo Wars cutscenes and they were orgasmic, to say the least. I never thought Spartans could kick so much Honor Guard ass. I did like the pulse lasers and the covenant destroyers. Nota Bene: the UNSC ships, or at least Phoenix-class ships, have cannons, much like SOSE autocannons, for ship-to-ship combat. I think we can salvage most of the necessary weapon sound and visual FX from SOSE.

I've been thinking of ways to incorporate Pelicans into the mod and I've come up with this: the UNSC would never bombard an inhabitable planet with nuclear warheads or any other weapons. They would send down an invasion force, whether it be by means of Pelicans, Albatrosses, or exo-atmospheric insertion by means of HEVs. This would make for excellent research: Regimental Increase: Level 1:5%"damage" boost/Level 2: 10%boost, Albatrosses: Level 1:15% boost/ Level 2:20% boost, ODSTs: Level 1:25% boost

We could also do this with the Covenant. It would be unrealistic to think that they could re-inhabit a planet that they just bombarded with super-heated plasma. Firstly, all the ground would be glass. Secondly, the oceans and atmosphere would have boiled away. And still, the Covenant invaded a planet and exterminated its population before they glassed it. The Covenant have dropships and drop pods too. Why shouldn't they do the same as the UNSC[in the mod]?

I hate to have this repeated, but, we need a new thread up.

EDIT: Do a Brute chieftan for a portrait, too. Maybe Rtas Vaudum?

Agreed to all. However, I'm pretty sure there have been multiple threads about planet bombardment to no end. I don't know, maybe we could just change the visual FX. Instead of missiles there are dropships; the elevators could still explode because the ground forces are fighting (you might argue that the invaders would want to capture the infra. but maybe when defenders sens imminent defeat of a structure they destroy it). I think for Covvie we could just keep the bombardment and argue that it's lesser scale than glassing. Maybe their superweapon could glass planets (at least temporarily, like the novalith). Lastly, I was thinking of a Brute but I had some other things to do. I'll definitely incorporate that next.

Okay, I guess that's fine. Don't know how it'll work on a smaller scale (when I played 3 FFG's could kill a krosov literally on the first volley), but thats all for later once we actually have the looks done. Here's the Brute, tell me if it looks wierd or I should use a different pic.

True, the alpha isn't very balanced right now in regards to vanilla factions, simply due the fact that combat is MUCH faster and deadlier than in vanilla Sins. I might get them balanced and I might not, just depends on how much public outcry for them is.

hey canada remember the balance technigue that i gave you awhile back.  lower all values to single or lower double digits and it works exactly the way that halo is suppost to.  either way ill be working on that whether anyone wants it or not at least on my copy.  im still trying to update to 1.6 and entrenchment with no luck.
