Can we say Emergency Patch please? 1.03 is terrible.

This game is pretty unplayable right now, sorry. I'm so frustrated by the game that I'm uninstalling it until 1.04 comes out.

Before I was a proponent of wait and see, but the results as of now are pretty obvious. The TEC are the strongest race by far and there really isn't anything anyone can do about it. An early attack combined with early tradeports is so strong it's ridiculous. Everything everyone has said in the "Sim City in Space" thread is absolutely true. There's no denying it, only the rationalization that the game is still playable despite being horribly unbalanced. It's not. I'm sure everyone's grateful you worked very hard to introduce new programmed features, but really you guys sort of killed Multiplayer flat dead with a single shot.

1.03 has actually managed to go /backwards/ in terms of acheiving balance goals. While the market exploit is gone, the new market has simply shifted in favor of the TEC. There's no question, an advent or vasari trying to compete is simply stymied by the economic advantages. They don't have the ship quality, cultural or anything that enables them to compete with a straight economic boom. Your choices are to attack extremely early. Oops, that's not really a choice. Because once the TEC reach a certain point in the game it's extremely difficult to stop them from simply rolling over you with their superior economic output. The early credit advantage is -seriously- unbalancing.

Can anyone explain to me the logic behind making LRMS stronger than they were before? The longer range doesn't help, and they're still easily massible thanks to the TEC's new economic dominance. The patch didn't change anything- the cost increase in proportion to the economic increase tilts unbalance to a ridiculous degree.

And seriously, what's with the siege frigate nerf? Reprogram the AI for godssake. Fix the chat too. Unified commands and IRC options are great, but who told you to mess with the chat system?

Ironclad really needs to do something, because this patch is really really really really bad. It's one of the worst patches I've ever seen an RTS, one that attempts to introduce great new features but actually sends the game back another 2 months.

Like I said, I really loved this game, but what it's turned into in the past few days is just disgusting. Yeah, this is probably the typical 'I quit' post, but quite frankly it's a real shame that such a great game should undergo such an unfortunate transformation.

Honestly, you can do whatever you want.

The dev team plays Sins, and they know what's going on. They'll get on it, if you want to take a break, fine. But it seems a shame to ditch a game because of some mistakes that were made, when it's overall a fantastic game. Patience is a virtue.

Don't you think you're being a wee melodramatic?

An "emergency" patch because you personally don't like the fact that relatively minor tweaks were made to some units? It's not crashing. It's not "broken". YOu just don't like unit changes?

Seriously, do you realize how much you damage the credibility of your position when you use such terms as "emergency" patch? No matter what, you will always have some people who don't agree with a given units hitpoints or cost or whatever.

I think to the average user, the fact that the Sins AI is much more challenging and the AI will take over for dropped players matters a lot more than a 15% increase in range of fire in a unit or something.

We're playing the game, reading through the comments, and making a list of things we want to tweak, improve, and enhance for 1.04.

But it's quite unhelpful to visit the forum and see a "emergency patch needed" topic only to find out that there's no emergency, just disagreement on unit values.  Emergency patches would be for massive crashing problems or some other show stopper. Not trying to resolve a user's personal preference.

Instead of lashing out emotionally, the most constructive thing a person can do is to play the game as it is for now until they are able to patch. Exploit anything that's overpowered and gain an understanding of all the nuances that make it overpowered, and this will give insight into JUST how to make things better.

You have a good list there of items that could be up for patching. Instead of making an argument from frustration, make a post with good reasoned arguments for the changes you suggest. You'll find that a lot of people agree with you, and then we can all have a productive discourse about how to make the game better. When your frustration comes through in your posting, it only serves to overshadow any good points you might make.

Thanks.

Why not just keep it until 1.04 comes out instead of uninstalling? o_O HD space is cheap.

1.03 didn't go completely backwards. It had a ton of improvements but i guess there was just an oversight on how much the lower black market prices would buff tec, and how much the almost non-exsistant sell prices would nerf vasari. And maybe they didn't test multiplayer to see what happened to the chat like we noticed right away.

They did a lot of good AI improvements and other things.

While the game is quite imbalanced now from the huge tec buff and vasari nerf.. it happened because of something VERY small. Sort of a butterfly-effect.

But I personally would like a "quickfix" sort of small patch to rebalance gameplay(1.02 was very very well balanced. Many of used to say how we were impressed with how well balanced the game was for a release) instead of waiting for 1.04 with all it's other features that are going to take time.
Not just a hotfix for the rebalance but the chat right now is making a lot of games less fun too.

Lol, i too always burn down my house when i'm not home for a couple of days and rebuild it when i come back ;-)
Whats the point of uninstalling it,except more work when you want to play again?

1.02 probably felt perfectly balanced if you didn't play as the TEC. :)

I'm closing this thread. If someone wants to create a discussion thread on 1.03 or 1.04 suggestiosn with a reasonable title, that's fine.
