"fighters" and "bombers"

I guess this might seem like a silly quesiton to some, but I would love a bit of clarification.

WHen a tech description says fighter or bomber, it only affects that subset of mini ship right?   I guess I am a bit confused at tiems as to what tech affects what?

I'm pretty sure it describes fighters and bombers in the game manual.

"Fighter" affects both fighters and bombers, and "Frigate" affects both frigates and cruisers.

The infocards plug pretty much everything from behind-the-scenes classifications, and that's how they're labeled so that's how the tech/ability infocards show it :P You could edit those in the strings file, I imagine, I haven't looked for that specifically..

"Fighters" and "Interceptors" seem to be used inchangeably a bit but as far as I know "Fighters" means any wee ships that spew forth from carriers (so Capital Ship bonuses which affect Fighters affect both Interceptors and bombers). I noticed "Interceptor" being used in a TEC single player game I was playing yesterday.

Interceptors are the anti-light armour & fighter ones, bombers are the anti heavy ships & structure ones. Generally when you hover over something in the Tech Tree its fairly verbose in that it'll mention both if both fighter types are affected (so it should say Interceptor and Bomber I think).
