Can you get a real high score going the Saint morality way?

I did not see any topics on this right off. I would like to hear some opinions on this. I notice that most of the high scores obtained on the Metaverse are from an evil morality alignment. I know there are some really good players who do not seem to go this route. What I am about to give up on is being able to get the high points by being nice. It seems to get me no wheres fast in this game. :D Any suggestions on sticking with a generally peaceful good guy approach and win? I assume influence is key, many culture techs. In the process I fall behind military wise. I play with the technologists party I seem to do the best. +15 Morale, +20 Research, +20 Influence, +10 trade, and +10 diplomacy.
I did complete one game was offered to submit my score, went through the motions and did nothing. :( This time around I have an empire to submit my "unmodded" score too. Should work. Thanks for your opinions. There are some incredible players out there. Code Monkey is one of them who scores well but does not take the evil do'er approach. :d

Its possible to get a high score by doing the good peaceful path. For my games I usually go the good path and my 25k game was done this way.

Thanks for the reply. I keep trying different types of strategies, parties, etc. and restarting my games. I had one really good one that I finished but it was using a heavily modded version of GC. My mistake enjoying the mods I guess. ;) Now I am trying to learn the best approach to be on the right path for scoring well and reflect myself in the game. (Peace loving type until you make me mad of course LOL)
I can clearly tell your one of those excellent players I was talking about that went a good path. The number one player and most just under him used the evil path. I found the evil path to be to easy, I avoid all the exploits that I am sure many players use. Any advice I would really appreciate it, not secrets, just some sound advice. :d Thanks.

To Desert Fox: Make sure you register your Metaverse name when you first submit your game scores. I didn't do it the first 2 games but when I finally figured it out and resistered again (for the game score) it did submit that game and my 2 previous games. I know this sounds confusing but first you register with Metiverse via Stardock and then when you go to submit look for where the Metaverse page prompts you to register your Game's player name which is the same name as your Metaveser sign in name. Maybe someone who understands this better than me can explain it better.

My website has created an Empire I have submitted without any problems. I had mods installed before that is why it did not follow through I hear. I am working on game 2 without mods. It is too bad because I like too add certain mods to the game. I hope to start our own Hall of Fame at CDG for games that have been modded. Babbled enough. :p

You can, but it is far more difficult than going for the immediate bonuses and writing off any AI alliances. Recommendations if going for a "high morality" win:

1) Oddly enough, always take +PQ random events. You will need a small, high-quality Empire. The Saints will "overlook" your lesser morals if you can: (a) trade with them and (b) supply them ships, techs and credits when they are in a war. (Which, of course, you want, because they are your "shield" and should do much of your fighting for you. Also, resources they expend in this effort cannot be applied against you should they decide to declare a holy war against yourself. Diplomatically, you should ensure only the "heathen" {i.e., anybody but you] require this "attention" from them.)

2) Pursue Alliance technology. The Saints will (to my knowlegdge) never break an alliance. They will even lose their homeworld to an enemy before accepting a bribe and changing sides.

3) If in alliance, donate conquered Minors to them. You have already reaped the Minor's available tech/trade good, so let the Saints develop & defend it. They will greatly appreciate you for the "honor" of spending their money on this, while you go about developing your own Empire.

4)Do not trade with the Drengin (on standard settings). I don't know why, but they really hate that.

5) If you space population. keep it "on hand" for future use - don't sell it to another Empire. Instead, wait until you have researched enough techs to raise your worlds to a sufficient PQ to hold multi-billions. Then, in the end-game, move them to your best planets and re-land them. Yu will get a bonus to your end-score (as of 1.03), as well as keep the Saints happy.

6) If all else fails, do what I do - build Anti-Matter Missiles and nuke the SOB's! ;)

Hey thanks for the detailed advice. I am having a really good game on gigantic map. I am almost saintly, not quite. 84 is close though. I did notice that right after I bought technology from the Drengin and the Yor Collective my popularity rating went down one notch. I have used some of your advice without finding your excellent advice here. I am very close with the Torians and Altarians. Altarians of course are Saintly, and Torians are good like I am. Torians are the 2nd power in the Galaxy.
