A lot of people seem to be quoting lines from an update log or something; how do you see what the patch addresses? I don't see a history file or anything in the game directory.... TIA.

Feargus:

The document we are referring to is linked to through Stardock Central ("History"). You can find the history of updates here...

http://sdcentral2.stardock.com/public/gc1/production/history.htm

cheez0r:

The only PQ ability choice available now is the +5% bonus. The option for +10% and +15% have been removed.

Hi

I am using 1.03.51:

GCImps.imp
the Omega Research Center descriptions says research is +50%
the value is 50
achievments.imp
the Manufacturing Center descriptions says output is doubled
the value is 100

the Technology Capital description says research is doubled
but the value is only 10
shouldn't that be 100 too?

ILEC - saw the same thing with Senate, 4294 Ind & Univ, but reverted to normal 100 member Senate after next election.

A question about the nerfed PQ bonus: Isn't +5% PQ mostly useless, since numbers are rounded down to the nearest integer, which means you don't get any bonus unless you're on a planet that has 20+ PQ naturally (which aren't exactly common)? Am I missing something?
You can receive PQ bonuses through other means as well, and that +5% may just push you over the mark for an additional level of PQ. A PQ 15 planet will become PQ 16 with Soil Enhancement for example, but that will be increased to 17 with the +5% bonus.
It will? So fractions are rounded to the nearest whole number? I thought it always rounded fractions down, making 16 * 105% = 16.8, rounded to 16?

Never mind, I did my math wrong. *LARTs self*
Reply #37 Top
Arcanum3000, no, that's not how it works. Bonuses are always calculated from the base amount (in this case PQ 15). So you have your greenthumb ability plus the Soil enhancement for a total bonus of +15% -> 15 * 1.15 = 17.25 which is rounded down to 17

Actually, for every planet class from 14 through 19, +5% PQ gains you nothing at first, but gains you 1 point of PQ over no bonus as soon as you add Soil Enrichment and/or Habitat Improvement, so it isn't useless at all. Starting at PQ 20, you get one level right off the bat.

I've got a page with a chart on it demonstrating this at http://geekzilla.org/galciv/pq.html if anyone wants to see it for themselves.
So, did they change the price of the 5% PQ bonus, or is it still 3 points?

Legal, why don't you use SDC?

There is no "File" to send. You need SDC to get it.

Woo, earlier than I expected. Looks good. :)

Now I'll have to ramp the Arceans up to max to see them be clever.

Starbases now have a maintenance fee?!?

All right! That was a seriously imbalanced part of the game.

Has morale been tweaked? Noticed a morale plunge after loading up a save game with 1.03. Or is this a old version to new version save game issue.
Morale is more sensitive to population. That was changed awhile ago but I'm not sure when.
RayChua: that seems to be a side effect of patching midway. The last patch gave us increased morale, this one hurts it.
Well, its a good thing. In the previous patch, morale kinda became a non-issue (esp with the PQ bonus). Could not recall when I lost an election, even with Star Federation.
I last lost an election in the second or third Stardock patch. :)

Well, I may have lost one since, but I can't recall.

The initial morale plunge seems to be temporary. I think its an issue similiar to recalculating sector influence after a reload. It appeared to me that whatever register that morale info was saved in was cleared by the patch so that morale on ALL planets (even high PQs with low pop) wound up at 1%. Within about 10 turns they crept back up to 40-60, so I think there is some sort of moveing average calculation that goes into them.

Morale is harder than it was prepatch to maintain. I actually had to build a multimedia center on all sub 20 planets now in order to maintain a population above 4 billion.

An interesting sideeffect is that I had already had a good dozen planets with 8-15 billion pop. That forced a mass rush to build CTs to off load pop that post patch the planet couldn't support...what to do with 2 dozen Combat Transports...hmmm...well...I was already evil...Bwahahaha
