Question: Where can I access enemy Trade Routes info in AP?

In the base GalCiv (1.20) I would be able to see enemy Trade Route info on a mini-map under their Stats tab after I had reached a certain espionage level for that civilization. There used to be a button (maybe labelled Trade Routes?) on their Stats tab that would show me the map. In Altarian Prophecy, I can't figure out how to display that same information, even after I have Advanced espionage level for an enemy civilization. Can anyone tell me where to get that info for Altarian Prophecy? I am playing with version 1.51.

Umm....I think that we took that out for Altarian Prophecy and Gal Civ 1.21 because that minimap gave away too much tactical information.  I think now you can only see the trade routes that the aliens have with you.

Strange, I am pretty certain to be able to see this information with the latest version of base Galciv.

And I don't understand why this gave too much tactical information: after all, at advanced spying level, we are supposed to know everything from the AI :

With cash spent on espionage reaching well into the Trillions, our knowledge of their workings exceeds even that of head officials in their own government. We now have spies in all facets of the %s. From Trade to Military, there is no shred of information that we won't have knowledge of

I don't know about base GalCiv, but it's not there in AP.

I wish it was. As is, there seems to be no reason to ever go beyond the second espionage level.

Wish it were still in there too. Nice to know who is trading with who. Don't want to tick off the most powerful civ in the galaxy by destroying there trading partner. :)

I really liked this feature in base GC. There really isn't much point to investing in espionage to get Advanced if the trade routes are gone. The only other info in the enemy stats that I used right now are current spending and current tech being researched.

You can see who is trading with whom on the Treaties screen.

I've been using the ability to figure out the enemy trade routes extensively in my latest game. If AP removed it, I'm not buying.

It's not removed, I just noticed somthing took me long enough but, if you go to the trade screen click on "ALL ROUTES" and you'll see lines coloured in race colours and you can see their trade routes, whether or not you have to spend money on espionage to see them well I don't know... [im playing on AP] , Although In my current game that I noticed this, I'm spending arround 457 bc /month on espionage on the Drengins. :CONGRAT: :HOT:

You will see only the trade you the AI have with you. Not the trade routes between AI.

So is this going to be changed? I don't even remember SEEING any extra information on the map.

Oh, how I dislike doing this, but I consider this an issue, so

I feel funny quoting myself, but I think I should take back this comment. In my recent games, I have been able to occasionally steal techs from the AI once I get to a high espionage level. I guess spying does have its benefits.

I would still like to see the enemy trade routes though. Attacking their freighters is so cheap, yet so effective :)

YES!!!

If you imagine this to be a real life situation and we were all prancing around the galaxy wiping out the Torians, Yor and Drengin, how hard would it be to know who someone is trading with?

Send some spy in and all he has to do is walk through the nearest Shopping mall to see what goods are on sale.
You wouldn’t even need to infiltrate the government or anything…

Trade is public, not a big secret.

You aren’t doing some secret arms deal.
Trade affects the populations view of the trading partner, therefore trade is with the populous, ie. Not a secret!

I haven’t been playing long but there have already been three different occasions where I have declared ware with a minor, only to end up at war with a major because I am “affecting his economy”. And I am normally not ready for a major war and have to spend tons of research or cash trying to make peace…
