do u see urself playing soase in 2 months time?

i see myself probably playing the game for another 2 months at least. right now i play at least 3 hours a day of games and its all spent on soase. but i think ill go back to coh, the best rts ever, after 2 months time.

my reasons are because races r pretty much the same, combat is boring to look at sometimes, and in the end its all about who has the most ships, who can swarm the best. the only thing that could make me want to stick to soase after two months time are the mods which im sure should make the game way better like most mods do.

what about you?

In about that time most of the big mods should start to see some light of day. So I think many people will surely be doing so if not more then they are now.

I'm still playing Dom3 and it's much older than two months (published 2006, IIRC).

So, yes, SoaSE will last more than those two months, especially since I don't even have the time to play except on weekends. Take into account the patches and updates Ironclad / Stardock will doubtlessly publish and you're looking at a reasonably longer lifespan than your average game.

And two months I would consider a terrible short life for a game anyway. Take a look at one of the best simulators out there, IL-2, the game survived more than five years, just from updates and well made expansions. I still have it on my drive and play it occasionally.

yeah but i usally stop playing a game after two months. except ofcourse for incredibly awesome games like coh, total war games and some others.

I would think that I would be playing this game for at least the next two months, at least on and off or until something else catches my attention, if not longer. I've only manage to put in about 3 hours of game play since I got the game and already find myself immersed in the challenge of getting my system ramped up, colonizing and trying to fend off pirate and opponent attacks. This game could cause me to lose a lot of sleep.  :CONGRAT:

a coh fan complaining about the lack of differences between the races?

Hm. Seems like a short attention span to me, if you loose interest in a game after just two months. I'm active in a Steel Panthers PBEM league, and usually a single match will take that long to play...

Yes,

Because there will be one or two game altering patches in that time.

Seeing as it's currently taken over my gaming life, yeah, I think I will be. I have yet to actually finish a game - but I have spent loads of time in one - 1v1v1 FFA, with at least 20 planets.

I know, it's kind of small, but I only get a few hours a night to play, so I relish what time I have.

if u actually ever played coh with the expansion u would know how diverse each faction is compared to sins..

I really don't know. I am starting to get bored of it in single player already. The AI becomes predictable and uses swarms of frigates for example. It really needs an overhaul for more variety and perhaps even some random tactics and fleet compositions mixed in or at least more balanced ones.

Yes i do.

Yeah but not as much. It all depends how online goes as like others have said, the AI start to become predictable. Then again, with patches on the way who knows how they might improve an already superb game.

What definitly will keep me playing though is community created content. BSG, B5, ST and SW mods are things I really would love in a game like SOESE.

Btw, I loved COH, but IMHO Sins blows it away through scale and complexity. I only played COH solidly for a few weeks before getting a little tired of it, maybe I should have got the expansion lol.

Sadly no. Although Sins is a great game I guess I was expecting something more.

I know it sounds silly, but I am still hung up on the graphics and lack of in-depth combat. Its nit-picky I know. It it seems this game is so similar to Sword of the Stars. Even the same-game in mulltiplayer. So I guess its just to familiar to me.

I actually fired up X3 again with some new mods and see myself playing it again for months.

I sure do hope mods and such add life to the game. And hopefully an exp soon would help as well. Also note I dont play multiplayer so that might be another reason I feel myself drifting.

i also love coh = city of hereos...playing it since 2 months and will continoue to play after im borred with SOASE

I usually don't play any one game exclusively, so I can definitely see Sins staying in my rotation for some time.

if it took an expansion before coh had unique factions, then you could at least do sins the courtesy of waiting for an expansion before passing judgment on it.

i think soase will only get better with time. updates and expansions?? will only get better. ive been waiting a long time for a game of this scale :)

Honestly, if you think that the races are all the same, you might want to play a bit more.

It's one of the things that's most impressed me so far - after reading the manual and playing a few games, they all seemed very 'samey', but the more I play, the more I realise how much difference there is between them.

Me personaly? Good chance i will not, unless the cowardly AI is fixed, more depth to in system structures and more randomized events like in Galactic Civilization and Master of Orion takes place.

Dont get me wrong. Sins is a great game with high aspirations. JUst needs to be taken to level to add defining points.

As the game is now... probably not. There would have to be quite a few changes for me to keep it on my hdd.

ill still be here one of the best games ive played in a long time. Looking forward to new updates.

I will be in a cave somewhere studying for the bar exam, so probably not. I also get tired of games quickly so...

I don't think I'll regularly play this in 2 months time. I'll propably check the website once a month to see wether there's a new patch and test it for a bit if there is, but other than that no.

I played something like 5 games up to now and I've basically seen it all. I've had fun with it as long as it lasted (which is over 20 hours of playing, which is a good value for money if you compare it to other leisure time occupations), but there is nothing about the game I look forward to anymore.

However, I don't like to criticize games that I enjoyed playing. It's good value-for money and earned it's place on the shelf much more than some other games. But still it fails to keep me interested for more than a week.
