Any chance for an epic moving cinematic camera? (Like in SW: EAW)

Is there any chance for an epic moving cinematic camera being added by the devs? By that, I mean a camera that turns off the icons and stuff like the current cinematic camera but also automatically switches views and stuff. This way it kinda looks like you are watching a movie like what was done in Star Wars: Empire at War.

Man, I know what you mean. I was thinking the same thing yesterday and today. I would really love something that would automatically change camera angles and that sort of thing. Or maybe if you're watching a fighter/bomber, you can watch the fight from a cockpit view or something like that. Doesn't necessarily have to have a cockpit but at least the camera would turn, twist, etc.

It would be a good thing to add. SINS is a reasonably cinematic game. Theoretically not difficult, though of course there may be engine related difficulties. I doubt it though.

Don't know how practical that would be for gameplay in sins ... I mean if you want that epic feeling when following a fleet why not just hold the right button and swivel around the fleet yourself .... i think I would lose orientation if the camera kept changing ...but maybe i'm not understanding your concept properly cuz I haven't played SW:EA

Ahhh, well, it would be more for replays rather than actual gameplay. I record all the games I play just incase theres a good fight and if there is I watch it again later but in cinematic mode. Looks really neat >_>!

Or if I'm guaranteed not to lose, I might switch to cinematic mode and click on a fighter to get a nice view of the battle while playing.

From using the camera as a player, it seems that this wouldn't be too hard to implement (though I'm no game developer, so I could be wrong ;)) My thoughts is that it would work like this:

1. If any of your ships are in combat
-Camera randomly and periodically switches zoomed in views of ships in combat
-Camera randomly and periodically switches to a static zoomed in view facing the combat from various random angles

2. If none of your ships are in combat
-Camera randomly and periodically switches zoomed in views of any of your ships
-Camera randomly and periodically switches to a static zoomed in view facing any of your ships

I've wondered the same thing. A moving cinamatic camera for replays would by a nice bonus.

It's been a while since this I posted this, but seeing if there is still any interest.

its not for gameplay? its for when you just want to sit back and watch, or make a video.

there have been a bunch of times where i was watching a battle and thought, you know, this would be a great game to make a movie with (considering my laptop is pretty powerful all the graphics etc are maxed so it looks delicious =P)

except i never had the patience to do good camera work, and i really didnt know what to film and where etc (i do that alot, think, man it would be cool to make a mod.. except i dont know how =P)

so my vote definitly goes towards this. maybe have some AI that knows when something interesting is happening like a cleansing brilliance or missile barrage or novalith strike or a cap ship explodes etc, so it could change the camera angle and you can film/watch it.

i mean, how bad would you feel if you were here zoomed in on a little LF watching him fly around, and behind you the battle of the titans is going on with cap ships blowing up and beams of hot white light are punching wholes through ships... youd be like D'OH!

That's so weird......because I was thinking about the exact same thing.

The camera in EAW really immerses you. Its literally like watching a movie. And then the epic star wars music comes on, seeing a giant star destroyer ripping everything apart........oh man :dur:

If Sins had a cinematic mode, I would like......have tears of joy.

SINS has a cinamatic mode. And if you want even more of a moive feel, use Ctrl+Shift+Z to get rid of UI

no. we are talking about an automatic cinematic camera function that moves the camera around the battlefield, zooming, panning, moving around, focusing on diff objects from different angles, just as if you were watching a movie
