Winning is underwhelming

Now don't get me wrong. I love the game and I am certainly enjoying it. But are the wins not just a little underwhelming? You get a little box pop up and mention casually that you've won. Oh and by the way don't forget to put the cat out.

I wondered if peeps agreed a little fanfare would not go amiss. Perhaps something more like in Galactic Civilisations were you get a 10 second video that just makes you feel good about the last 3 hours battling. They could hire an actor to voice over a few win conditions (James earl Jones would be nice if he's still alive?). I'm sure such a slight boost could be distributed through Stardock and require no more then a few dozen Mb at most.

Yup, with would be nice to have a better sense of accomplishment by the end of a game.

This is as much RTS game as 4x, and us RTS players would NOT want to take the time (or I wouldn't) to watch a stupid video of some guy saying something I already know. (that I won)

A game ending video that ties with the game intro would be appropriate.

Don't want to watch the video? No problem, press the escape key or click to continue...

If you spend several hours playing the game, I'm sure a few seconds of skippable video footage won't hurt you.

It doesn't even have to be a video, it could equally be a scripted camera sequence ingame, flying past your victorious fleet around the last enemy planet. That alone would be better than the rather anticlimatic screen right now.

I would rather have Ironclad devoting their time to refining the gameplay and giving us new features instead of providing us with a few minutes of video to quench the appetite of those who desire for some intangible greater reward upon completion of a session.

As it is, I find myself quite satisfied to peruse the graphs to see how long it took me to get my empire in better shape than the other AI players, and then start a new game on a bigger map then the last.

Why don't they make all the enemy planets explode? Parade music? SOMETHING exciting. Winning is just boring. All it means is the last 4 hours of slippery-sloping is over. I have to agree, it is very underwhelming.

In Supreme Commander, the enemy commander explodes into a nuke. Can't get much more exciting than that.

It would be cool if all your planets start launching huge fireworks displays all around your empire and have the camera do a zoom in then zoom out to and from each planet as they celebrate. Kind of like the last few scenes of Return of the Jedi Special Edition.

Unfortunately the cake would be a lie.

an ending cinematic that looks like the intro would fit nicely but that's still a lot of work for a patch. Also it's kind of hard to put that much work into something when most people will just skip it after seeing it once.

I suppose they could do a credit roll with an appropriate slide show of aftermath concept art fading in and out in the back ground. They seem to have a wealth of concept images for this game that are not actually in the game that could be used in that manner.

The cake is a lie....

The satisfaction in this game comes from the main course not the dessert. I'm still considering myself a noob, but last night in my first real 4 faction game, 2 teams, my partner AI and I were in the enemy's final gravity well, pounding away at their planet, when I declared war and turned my fleet on his. That moment was better than any ending CGI movie.

There will be cake. And you will be baked.

Agreed that winning really just doesn't seem "cool" at the moment, and frequently happens when I least expect it (I don't even know that it's the last enemy world I'm destroying). Not terribly important, and gameplay comes first, but something other than "You won!" would be nice.

In the words of Stewie having your empire conquer the galaxy would be a good time for a "sexy party"

The Peggle level ending with fireworks and Ode To Joy would be cool.

I believe a slightly spruced up ending would certainly improve the game. I won't cry if it doesn't happen, but I do think it'd help win over some fence-sitters.

I think it would be a cool addition to the end of a game to have a video that bridges the gap between the intro and the final outcome. Even if you lose. Of course it's not necessary... but it is one of those nice little touches that make games all the mroe enjoyable

Lol, it could be the developers voices for all I care. Besides, it's them I truly love

Let me show you how to squander money on voice acting ;)

War. War never changes.

You know what that is.. everyone does. Why? Because it's the voice acting for one of the best post-apocalyptic games around! My mistake.. TWO of the best post-apocalyptic games around ;)

That's what voice acting can do to set the feeling for a game. Granted, Sins hardly needs it since, it's in my opinion, that good. With that in mind though, would it still be a waste?

I don't think so.

If you think winning is under whelming you don't take your games personally enough.  ;)

Some stupid anecdote about the most overrated game of all time

For godsakes there are people screaming their lungs out on this forum about "Fix x" or "Fix y" and you guys are fixated on voice acting.
