Does "gamespeed" change EVERYTHING?

even the animations of the ships and make EVERYTHING faster? or does it just pertain to resources and research?

Ships don't have animations I believe. So there's not really anyway to tell.

mean like how fast they fly around....how fast they traverse phase lanes.

so then it's just research and resources?

the game speed itself (not research) influences:

incomeGameSpeedScalar
shipBuildRateGameSpeedScalar
moduleBuildRateGameSpeedScalar
shipLinearMaxSpeedGameSpeedScalar
shipLinearAccelerationGameSpeedScalar
shipLinearDecelerationGameSpeedScalar
questCompleteHappinessDeltaScalar
cultureConnectionReferenceLength

I dont think it influences attack speeds.

I'm enjoying playing Sins on slow. It gives me a little more time to think things through and the game feels like it has a more realistic flow to it.

Just my two cents....

Good question. I had assumed it worked in a similar way to pressing "+/=" to speed up the game to double speed, which would affect ship movement and research equally.

cool. i'll just keep it at slow. the last thing i want is capital ships whipping around like frigates.

So it doesn't affect turning speed then? I thought my ships were still turning at a snails pace when playing fast... that kind of annoys me that my frigates will be whipping around a gravity well willy-nilly and then take a year to phase out because they have to slowly rotate their facing. Oh well, good thing I don't like fast speed anyway.
