Petition for Single Player Campaigns!

Petition for Single Player Campaigns!

I cannot be the only one who enjoys them, can I?!

Title says it all. This is an attempt to convince Stardock to craft us all at least one Single Player Campaign. (Preferably one for each race, but at least one) Please? I really enjoy them, and I can't be the only person who does. So, who's with me? Thanks! Just a /signed would be great to show Stardock we are interested!

Let me know when the campaigns are added - then I'll buy the original and the expansion, or the "gold edition" containing both. Until then, I don't do multiplayer and skirmish gets boring quickly.

I think the omission of a single player campaign was a blunder. It is listed under "cons" in almost every review I've read so far.

Single player is still more common than most editors at gaming magazines and online gaming sites may believe.

I think leave the Devs alone to do what they need to do. If they have organised for a campaign or campaigns awesome. rather than a petition for a campaign, seeing as they have said yes they will make one (some) how about just having some ideas for some??

I find it curious that the people opposed to a single player campaign do so on the basis of the fact that they don't play the campaigns anyway. I guess the people who don't play multiplayer should object to the inclusion of multiplayer in the game. I know this is repeating what chrizzle said above, but he's dead on - why can't we have both.

Note that most of the major game rankings and reviews either deducted for lack of a campaign or at least mentioned it in their negative comments on the game. The game is apparently rated well and selling well, but it's a shame - it appears the game may have been even more highly rated and would have even better sales with the inclusion of a single player campaign.

My biggest regret is that these space themed strategy games are few and far between. You have quite a wait to get a good one, and then they leave out the campaign.

I bought the game today and was utterly disappointed to find no campaign. I'm a rare breed who doesnt get into multiplayer.

You make a good point.

Count me IN!

To the campaign naysayers: All the Greatest RTS Games have CAMPAIGNS to complete their legacy!

This RTS has a great story behind it, lots to build on!

I shall await...

I'd strongly like a campaign. If done right, it could tell a great story. Academically, a campaign can also serve to teach the game (which would have been nice given the lousy manual and tutorial), but that boat will have sailed for most players by time a campaign would be issued. I'd really like the backstory of Sins to be fleshed out in an interesting way, especialy since I never play any game multiplayer (MMOs are a differnt story, so the five years of my life that I lost to original EQ, and varying months to other MMOs, don't count).

Ironclad is planning a campaign for the expansion.. and actually has been before the game's release :P

Please don't waste time working on a campaign. This is a multiplayer game and thats where its longevity comes from. Work on free additions that would normally come in an expansion pack.

yo

i think itd kickass if they stucka campaign in there, its great as is, but with a campaign it will be better

the devs will probably still devote the majority of their time to the orginal SINS becuase that's what's making them $$$ right now, but you can only work so much on a game before people start asking for too much

a campaign would satisfy those of us who are itching to find out if the TEC collapses (OH NO, THEY'RE MY FAV RACE AHHH), if the Advent conquer all, and who the heck is chasing the Vasari and scaring them ****less across the galaxy

You are not rare breed. In fact your are majority of players. Most of players do not play multiplayer, Stardock mentioned this several times (that's why they did not make multiplayer in Givc2)

I'm also a single player player because I don't play this enough to get competitive in multiplayer but I can live without a campaign personally. It may well add a new experience but the things I'd most like to see is extra races, add events, expand the diplomacy, extra planet types, moons, configurable ships etc.
Expanding the scope of the game and the options available to our strategy will bring me much more enjoyment than a story driven campaign. That being said I'd still get enjoyment if that was a main feature of an expansion.

i think a single player is a great idea, for one i reken it helps new players understand the game. Its very off putting just having to start with a very vague tutorial and then pushed into the real thing with no help from there. Also i find a campaign help players get into the game and really understand what each race is actually fighting for.

id love to have a single player campaign. it would be hard to pull off but if they could do it right it would be awesome. ideally i would like a campaign that expands the game world instead of warping you to another map. a good model of what im thinking of would be fire emblem 4. you play on different maps but you home base is the same for alot of the first half. i didn't like the galciv campaigns cause you had to do alot of the same thing over and over again.

also i think the devs have created a really interesting game world and i would like to see its story explored more. it kinda reminds me of the foundation series abit.

Me personally, I really want a campaign. Currently, this game seems kinda anchorless to me. There's a story about why everyone is fighting, but not much more than that. I want more story than that opening cutscene. I want to know the triumphs, losses, emotions that a great story can provide. Multiplayer only Starcraft would suck wouldn't it? I mean, with Fenix, Tassadar, Raynor, Kerrigan, Starcraft had a moving, emotional story that immersed you, and greatly improved the game by making you feel each faction, even in multiplayer. Sins would be truly great if it had a campaign with unique heroes who you really want to know more about and care about. That would really add immersion and the whole "fate of the galaxy" thing the devs say Sins is supposed to have.

Regarding the campaign.

Obviously, there is two type of people.

One, those who don't know what to do if they are
given too much toys to play with from the first.
They want some constraint so that they can limit
what they learn. And learning is better off when
you acquire knowledge one by one, step by step.

Other is "I will learn by my self" type.
They are willing to explore things themselves.

Sure, campaign is good thing to have but not
crucial.

I myself want developpers to spend their resources
to the game content itself than to the campaign.
But I WILL play if they've made one for the expansion.

The best would be DEV make good campaign AND new
game content needless to say...
It is about how much they are able.

Great game which live long with many steady players,
thats what I want Sins to be.

I have to sign this petition also, when i first got this game about a year ago i was disapointed to find there wasnt a campain :SNIFF!:  . The game over all is ok but i havent played SINS in a long while cause of no campain,it got boring after a while.

There is a story/history for each race but no campain to play thru,i really wish there was a campain. :SNIFF!:

i am glad to hear that they are working on some campains :) .

Ironclad are making an Expansion pack for the game as we speak with a Campaign so guys don't worry.

For the people who think this campaign is a waste, it wont be in this expansion pack because the base game is already there so much more time for campaign and adding cool stuff in for skirmish as well!

Instead of having a campaign, why not just play all of the standard maps that were included with the game and why not download custom maps? Better yet, forget playing it in single player and come play the game in online multiplayer against human players an not AI--aka the real Sins game. You'll have such a good time once you learn how to play it in online multiplayer that you'll soon forget your desire for a campaign.

I am a single player gamer too, but I would rather see Ironclad improve the single player sandbox mode then a campaign. When I think of great single player games MOO/MOO2, Civilization(s) , and the Total War series immediately come to mind. None of these games had a campaign but they all had compelling single player sandbox modes. Most of these have a long term game appeal in that you still find yourself firing up a game years later just to reminisce the fun times you had playing such games.

With the RTS games I have played once I completed the campaign I found little reason to continue playing those games. Not that I don't appreciate a great stoyline it's just that once I seen the conclusion of the story the gameplay usually wasn't strong enough to keep me interested in the game long term.
