Is there a Printable Keycard?

Was a keycard supposed to come in the box with this game? I did not have one.

Or, is there a .pdf or some other keycard that I can print, other than doing screenshots of the Options/Key Bindings in the game?

I was wondering the same thing. The list is in the actual game, but having a separate list would be better.

Agreed! I downloaded the game, and if someone could even type up quickly in a post on here the keycard with all the shortcut commands, that would be brillo.

If either of you all pre-ordered your downloads you can find the printable keycard by clicking "update game" ingame (or by running the games launcher file, and clicking update there). That will take you to a download for the Collectors Edition digital content, the keycard PDF among them. If you didn't pre-order, then i'm not 100% sure if its available.

It's available for all orders from Stardock. Preorder or "Buy now" are both Collector's Edition (until Stardock runs out) :) Retail copies won't have access to the music/PDF goodies, though.

I bought mine at BestBuy.

So, I don't get a keycard I can just print myself for the game? Sorry, but that is just stupid. I hope they just post something... :(

I am in the same boat....I picked mine up at Gamestop yesterday. Since when is a list of hotkeys "bonus content"??

I love the game, just wish I knew what all the buttons did :)

Yeah, I got my from BB also because I had gift cards from Christmas still. A PDF of shortcuts doesn't seem like a "collector's" item, it seems pretty necessary to be good at the game :NOTSURE:

A printed keycard only comes with the boxed Special Edition (available from Stardock or Fry's). An electronic/pdf version can be obtained if you bought the game (either electronic only or boxed) from Stardock.

If you bought the game from Best Buy, CC, Target, Wal-Mart, Gamestop...you do not get the card (no printed, no electronic).

Since when is a pdf key reference card premium content? When the game comes in a nice metal box, that's premium content. A t-shirt, artbook, or spiral bound manual are premium content. Withholding the keycard from the non-collectors edition is just insulting.

Thanks for the clarification HM......still, let me be the first to say "LAME".

I love the game, and want to fully support Stardock but geez isn't a key-card basic stuff. Hopefully there is DRM on the electronic version of the key-card pdf because I have a feeling it is going to be pirated by those suckers who *gasp* bought their game from a brick and mortar seller.

If IC and Stardock chose NOT to place key maps within the manual where do they expect those who bought the game from local stores to actually find out what keys do what?? Key-maps for complex RTS games are almost required to get the most out of the game!

Again, I would be one of the first to defend the game and applaud most of Stardock's buisness practices (DRM-free games) but I feel extremely irritated that because I chose to pick up the game locally I am missing out on, what I believe to be, basic content.

I totally agree. I think this is a first in the gaming industry. And a big mistake by the publishers.

So, I guess one of us is going to have to take the time to make a key card and share it with everybody, unless that is some copyright infringement or something?

I only see a manual pdf in the game directory.

I am a big Stardock fan too. I own GalCiv, GalCiv2, and all the expansions. I wasn't going to buy this game off the bat, but the buzz was good, so I did it, because I do believe Stardock deserves my money.

I knew the above with respect the Collector's Edition, but even so, I did not purchase it. The shipping at $10 is way too expensive. For $20 more (I am a box kinda guy) what I get in store I get some music and extra printed materials? It just isn't worth the cash.

I would've liked to see the poster and card in the store bought box. That's what I got when I bought the GalCiv2 box (Collector's Edition) at Wal-Mart, and I believe it was $39 as well.

With luck Stardock will just cave and offer the pdf to everyone.

You have to use the update button in game to get the pdf. If you bought from Stardock, the resulting web url will give you links to get the pdf. If you bought the regular boxed edition from a store like Best Buy or Gamestop, you will only see a download for the Bonus Pack.

Yeah, I used that button, ran the installer (1.01bonuspack.exe) and still have nothing but the manual pdf. :/

We are in the same situation then HM. I did not want to music or tech poster, and assumed that a key card was almost mandatory for a game like this.

I can't believe that a key card is getting me this worked up, but the situation leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Atleast in the US you usually get a boxed game, for those of us in the EU we're usually lucky to even find a physical manual in the DVD-case (since boxes are for some obscure reason not allowed by the EU) Usually all we get are PDFs, unless you shell out nearly twice the normal price for a special edition that is. :)

Carbon016,

My understanding is that if you bought from Stardock, then on the web page, in addition to the Bonus Pack, there is also an additional URL which points to a download for the pdf. The pdf is NOT part of the bonus pack.

I cannot verify this because I bought from Best Buy, thus, do not have access to said pdf link.

So Carbon016: how did you buy the game?

Maybe it was a lack of "Collector's Edition" content that drove them to include a basic reference card in the package. Maybe, reference cards cost $5.00 a piece to produce.

Who knows!

Next time you play the game try out every key, and every combination you can think of and start a "Standard Edition" wiki to help out all the others who happen to see the game in a store, buy it, and realize that there is no place in the manual that explains what buttons do what! :)

Zero 2121,

I wouldn't have minded having the tech tree and a card, but I wasn't willing to pay $20 extra for it. Yeah, I know I also get a CD, but that I really don't need. The music, while fine, is not by any means something I need on CD.

Digital download, must have missed it in my frenzy to get 1.01. I'll check in a little bit, just hooked up my printer.

If you got the digital download you should have access to it. At least that's what Stardock says! Every digital download purchase is a Collector's Edition purchase. I guess that's what you get for your extra $5 (since right now the digital download is $45, if I recall, and I paid $40).

I've enjoyed the Stardock games I have purchased so far(only Gal Civ 2 & SoaSE so far), but I feel I have to add to the voices expressing disappointment in the decision to turn what I consider materials that are an extension of the manual(the keymap & tech tree)into bonus collectors edition only content. I can slightly understand not wanting the additional cost of printing them to keep the price in stores at 39.99, but it would have been nice if the keymap & tech tree were at least available as a pdf for printing at the customers expense.

If anyone figure out where this digital download key map can be found, let us know. Not with the link or anything, just where to find it for us digital downloaders.

Thanks!
