Love it!

as the title says duh!

Well after having a good amount of play time sense it has been out, I must have restarted a few times to get use to the game. But WOW! What depth , fun and just so much to do :)

I have to say devs, you didn't leave me with wanting anything atm, thou there is always that wish for turrets that move or planets with more detail but alas as things are it is really a great game.

I see the cries of balance, so far all those issues I have seen I have found counters to, there is so much to this game and so many ways to go. It will take months just to figure out what really is out of balance if anything. So far I have found so many counters to what the AI has thrown at me after the lesson was learned. From bomber rushes on my planets, to mass exodious of my populace, at least I am learning all these issues and learning my play style.

I am a camper no doubt, I love to build up an unbeatable wall then march out like a dreadnaught with a fleet that would shake the soul of any that cross it. So far that tatic has worked out well and I enjoy the fact I can play this way or branch out and "take my chances" doing so quickly.

Just love it just love it !

Your more then welcome Frog & Team, it is really a great game and you should be proud to be part of and being invested into this dev team. I see so many post that get more attention on the negative comments (people like to flame I guess) that I am suprised I don't see those defending this game posting more possitive threads.

As I read threw allot of these post, there are I would say 95% that love it, 5% that don't , yet we would rather flame then say, "hey guys great game no matter what a small % of people say" .. In the end the game that was made rts/x4 is what it was promised and what more can a person ask for then what I mentioned above :)

Had a long game last night (went for a larger map) wow! did the politics kick in! Thou if someone does read this, is there a way to make offers that actually work with the AI? They can give me missions, but can I give them missions as well? Didn't see this anywhere, just waiting on my retail box to come to the house and I am sure all my minor questions will be answered.

Again great game guys!

I'd like to second Chaintm's comment on thanking the Dev Team for not only a great game but also fostering this sense of community with being so actively involved on your boards. The industry needs more Devs like Ironclad - true gamers passionate at what they do, not just cranking out the next release of something.

Later,

Bump.

Good job with the game guys.

chaintm - I will have to try your camping method. So far I have been beaten twice by the AI on small 1v1 maps. I would imagine that small maps play much different than larger ones.

Yeah, this game is awesome. Way to go Stardock! I've been burnt out on RTS games forever, but this changes that trend...I haven't been this hooked since Age of Empires.

You know it's good when it feels like an hour playing, you look at your watch and go, "Fuck! It's 1, I got work tomorrow!" This happened two nights in a row.

I'll save my suggestions (everyone's got a couple) for another post, for now though...I love it!

Aye, pretty much, I start my one planet then use a scout to find another that has no other links, usually there is one and build that up (Usually ends up being astroid area) and with those two I build and build and build. I progress in the ecom side of research to get production flowing well then start building my military up. Usually when I finally fill my first quota of ships and one captial ship. I then am fighting the A.I. and or pirates. Oh and btw, PIRATES are your best friend :), if you always save enough cash they can be a huge thorn in your enemy, I rarly have them attack me anymore in games.

edit: oh i should add as far as size of galaxy yes and no, the issue is now you can do allot of diplomacy but you never know which AI is going to backstab you! So far I have kept to this starting game and have always ended up on a good seat in the game :) While not as high tech usually as other races that went all military etc, after awhile my ecom is so massive I can buy off other AI or the pirates with ease, which allows me then to focus my next efforts more into millitary lines. Not sure if this would work well with RL oppenents , but with the resources I pull, I would not doubt an ally would love to be fead constant resources and become my military might of space for our alliance , never know :)

Sort of. Once they are happy enough with you, you may be able to convine them to attack or defend targets of your choice. Select one of his planets or ships and you will see the options in the action card.

The two maps I've played were 1v1 with 7 planets, so the planets were mostly set up in a circular sort of fashion (One of them even starts you next door to the A.I.). Finding a corner to dig into was pretty much impossible. I still think your strategy might work, but a map as small as the ones I used certainly seem to be a different kind of game.
