Advent techs: jump further / wormholes. How do I use them?

Sorry, don't remember the tech names, but they're as described - one says it'll let you jump further, and the other says it gives access to wormholes. I tried them last night and could see absolutely no effect, and no way to use them or build anything to use them. Help?

The fact that no-one else seems to have asked makes me suspect I'm just a bit of an idiot...

I believe the far jump means you can jump from one star to another. I dont think in those big maps they actualy have phase lanes to diffrent star systems.

The wormhole tech allows you to use wormholes. Both of these techs are useless unless your on a map that has multiple stars or wormholes.

Every race has those techs. Jump further allows you to travel from star to star meaning you have to be at a star, then phase jump to another one. With wormhole travel, just find a wormhole and click on it. Your ships will travel through.

Ahhh, that explains it. I've been testing stuff out on small 1v1 maps.
